:rotfl: Rant away - that's what we're here for.
Well I have decided to try to make myself useful before MrD gets home (he's out playing snooker). Am researching bits for our downstairs loo lol.

Yes I was thinking of getting regular old cheese cake from tescos in say strawberry/lemon/rasberry etc and then buying some fresh fruit and putting a slice/wedge of the same fruit on the top like in that picture. And I do know what you mean with the glittery bits. I *think* will have to order it (shame) and see how I can tart it up. I was thinking of getting some really diddy doilies like in the photo and using them under each cheesecake. That'll be the only twee thing of the day lol.

Right back to searching for the *right* cheap loo/tap/bottle trap/cistern/flush button. :D (Searching the internet window shopping really is my idea of heaven).
  • Hi tfutcher- welcome to this thread- your getting married the same day as me!!:j

LauraLou- If I can work out how to PM I would love to have a look at the dresses- I love looking at wedding dresses and seeing peoples choices!

Those cheesecakes look so delicious- such a great idea and im sure you will work out something with the stand.

Families can be so complicated-i have a fairly large one, my oh has a tiny family so I think we are compromising that i will invites aunts and uncles for all day and then my cousins will be welcome in the evening.

Emma if you click on Laura's name it will bring up a little menu where you can PM her :)
  • Thanks- ill give it a go, im still quite new to this site- i dont think ive ventured out of this thread yet!!!
  • Its so exciting to hear of other peoples plans for July, does not make me seem so neurotic for planning it in advance.
I am getting married in a concert hall at the University of Southampton and having the reception there in one of their big halls.
I have narrowed my dress down to three different designs by Alfred Angelo but just need to decide the right one for me.
Me and my fiance do have abit of a theme for the wedding. I support Southampton football club and he supports Portsmouth Football club so the colour scheme is red and blue.
I have found some gorgeous cake toppers where they are made in your image and then have the football scarfs round their necks. xx

I LOVE this website - it has soooo satisifed my 'wedding addiction' lol. Although I have done absolutely nothing else for 2.5 days so far!! :rotfl: I am going to have withdrawals when I go back to school. Thing is I know how quickly it's going to go... already we have something planned (not wedding related lol) every weekend until I break up for Easter!! Plus I keep telling myself by planning this far in advance we're more likely to grab bargains!! Whereas if it comes to June next year and we had nothing planned then we'd end up paying a fortune for the immediacy of everything! (Lol you should see my ebay watch list hahahaaa :rotfl:).

I am a fan of AA dresses - lol I haven't tried any on yet but that's the website I keep going back to. I have arranged an appointment to go to a stockist in July (this year) to try some on. I have just emailed her to ask if she has a particular dress in stock - style 2169 (but I would like it shortened to just above knee length).

:rotfl: I am hoping that Southampton FC and Portsmouth FC don't play each other on your wedding day!
  • Hey Tfutcher, Im on your oh side im afraid- i support Pompey!!

I love this website- if I didnt have you guys to talk to I would drive my oh made talking wedding stuff!!- Its good to be able to share things on here with people who are as excited as me!!

I think its great we have plenty of time to organise, means we have time to shop around and get bargains, or work out ways of doing things the mse way!

Just thought I'd share this with you guys - lol just incase like Emma you don't venture away from this thread.

A while back we were discussing budgets - and I was amazed that some of you had an idea of how much things'd cost. Well I've now got a rough idea (thanks to window shopping for the last 2.5days lol). Please bear in mind we're having a registry office ceremony with a house party to follow.

40 Invites & Thank you Cards (making these myself - will be appoximately 30 of each to make)
    210 Registry Office (unnegotiable)
    67 Notice (unnegotiable)
10 Marriage Certificate (the first is complusory one is 3.5, but I would like another - not sure how much that will be)
400 Rings (my one will be approximately 220 - flat court 3mm 18ct white gold, his will be palladium about 150.)
400 Wedding Dress (I really hope I can find 'the one' for this - although I have been looking at some very lovely dresses no idea if this is going to be realistic!)
50 My shoes (already bought for £48.99)
50 Accessories (umming and ahhing about this - I do have some lovely bits that I could wear - depends if I want something new).
100 Hair (I'll get my hair cut and coloured by my hair dresser as usual the weekend before and will then do it myself on the day(s).)
50 Makeup (again umming and ahhing about this - I could just use what I've got)
50 Flowers (I'm going to be making my own bouquet and a button hole for MrD, have sources some artificial flowers and will be able to get my bouquet flowers for £25).
200 MrDs suit (am hoping he can be limited to that!! But he's an odd shape - very tall (6ft1) and skinny (30/32 waist) but broadish shoulders and muscular upper arms so I don't know if he will be able to buy off the peg. Am thinking somewhere like Burtons - in a fairly normal colour so he can wear it again for future dos).
50 MrDs shoes (It's only fair that if I get new shoes he can too - but he isn't spending more than me lol).
300 Alcohol (I'm working on getting as cheap as possible, i.e. BOGOF offers at supermarkets lol - will have approximately 40 drinking guests at our party - have worked out on a basis of 5 'drinks' per guest = 200 drinks. I think around £1.50 per drink should be doable, plus soft drinks)
240 Catering (I am going to be making my own buffet - am working on a budget of £4 a head for 60 guests.)
60 Cake(s) (I am going to be doing individual cheesecakes - buying regular cheesecakes from supermarkets and cutting them into little squares, then putting fresh fruit slices on top. The main cost is going to be a 'cupcake' stand for around £20.
100 Decoration - I suppose I should decorate the house really. I'm thinking things like red balloons tied in 'cloud 9s'. Will do this myself though.
0 Entertainment - free - cause I will be using my ipod and streaming the music around the house using our existing computer network.

    Grand (MSE!) total: £2477.
    I'm such a scrooge!
I am considering hiring chairs for our party - to give the old farts somewhere to sit - however I'm also tempted to ask everyone if they have any folding chairs they could bring. Hahahaa!
  • I do read the other threads (almost addicted to reading other threads!!), i just never comment on them!
