Aww no lauralou hope your feeling better!
DS is much better thanks all...
and guess my name.... lol... think us lauras should stick with the usernames otherwise could get even more confusing lol x0 -
Awww no LauraL*, glad to hear the antibiotics are kicking in though... and what a shame - lol you will just have to spend another night there to check the reception/bar area out once they have finished renovating!
I'm not usually a very good flower arranger - lol I tend to just snip the ends off bouquets and plonk them in some water. But looking at the thread at the top of this board, and various 'how to' videos on you tube I think I'll be able to give it a good enough stab. At least with fake flowers it doesn't matter how many times I rearrange them! They won't wilt or get damaged by me touching them over and over lol.
LauraR* - glad to hear your son is feeling better.
* (How is that for a compromise?)0 -
LauraLou- Im glad being ill didnt ruin your weekend- how annoying though that out of all the times to be ill its when you have lovely plans.
Im lucky with my flowers that my mil2b works in a place that does lovely artifical ones so has offered to do them for us.
I went to a wedding fair this morning, and it was much better than the first one I went to a while back!! Found someone who does fab cupcakes- and reasonable priced aswell, just need to decide if we want to have cupcakes or a proper cake now. Also found a possible wedding car, a silver merc- which is what Ive had my eye on for while now so may go for that. Just been googling to see when the next local wedding fairs are!!
Im Emma by the way!!!0 -
I *think* we'll have cupcakes... and I'm a glutton for punishment - I think I'll make them myself. (We'll have around 60 guests lol).
In fact that is what I've spent the morning researching lol. I will make my own cupcake stand - there are some disposable ones on the net but why pay for someone else to make it when I can do it myself, and this way I can link in our colour scheme. (lol I'm wondering if anyone will notice these sort of details). I have spent this morning looking at how to pipe buttercream icing onto cupcakes in a lovely swirly effect. I'm confident I could do that. And again I could do them the same colour as the invites and the bouquet.I have also been thinking - lol it's dangerous! When we decorate the house for the party, I am going to get some white tablecloths to cover our manky work surfaces in the kitchen. I may also create some little name cards for the food items I'll offer - like Cheese & Pickle, Ham & Tomato, etc. Can do these in the same style as the invites... lol I think I need reining in soon!! Lol I'm just adding to the budget with all these ideas!! Lol.

Ooo scrap that - have been looking at wilton's website (cake decorating people). Instead of cupcakes I am really tempted to have individual sized cheesecakes mmmm!0
-
Well I probably could make them myself, or my mum or aunt could but i dont know if its fair to put them under pressure, and I want my mum to keep me calm, not fussing about cupcakes-my aunt is fab at cake decorating so its an option, i have plenty of time to think about it- but the ones yesterday were just yummy!!
Mini cheesecakes sound delicious! And a bit different aswell- fab idea.0 -
See that is the advantage of having 4 days inbetween the ceremony and the party - lol I will have plenty of time to make the buffet. MrD is happy for us to have cheesecakes :T I have thought - rather than the expense of making them though it'd be cheaper to just buy regular cheesecakes from Tescos (along with the rest of the buffet things) and cut them up into squares. (lol and what a shame we'll have to eat all the offcuts lol). Can you tell what I've spent the day researching? :rotfl:0

*This* isn't getting any OU work done is it!! :rotfl:
Anyway this is the sort of thing I am considering for our cake:
Oh and I've just got us booked in at our registry office to give our notice. 1st August 2011 at 3:45 - exciting!0
