Completely agree, unless she is recommended you might want to consider your options. If there is any problem with the email service any email might not even arrive (i've had that happen a few times before!) A phone call at least confirms that the person knows about the cancellation. Ahh I need something weddingy to do tonight, OH is out for the evening lol. Hello google......0
-
glad that you all would be annoyed as well. She was recommended to me by my cousin who got married last year. I am now unsure whether I can trust her though. How hard is it to make a phone call to cancel.
I am also running out of wedding things to do, but really want to do some wedding stuff. It is driving me mad.0 -
I would definately have a few doubts. I have a friend who is fab at hair butcan sometimes be unreliable and although I would love her to do my hair I dont think I can risk her letting me down on my wedding day. My friend got married a few weeks ago in southampton and her make up lady was very reasonable and really good, I could always get her number for you, and her hair was lovely aswell, that was a different lady who is my friends usual hairdresser.
Nothing wedding related for me to do, well I cant think of anything, but im sure I could think of a few things!!!0 -
I think a phone call was the least she could do. She is supposed to offering you a service - where is her customer service? You are paying her so if I were you I'd be very impressed and look elsewhere!!
MrsD - could you include a 'bring a bottle' section on your invitations (or would that be rude??).
I can sympathise with being sooooo busy though. Supply teacher, but just started working in a bar to get a bit of extra cash. Got an interview tomorrow for a Saturday job over the Summer (I feel 16 again!) and then had a letter through the post today offering me an interview for a Year 3/4 job next week. Trying to plan a maths lesson that will last an hour (but manage to find myself doing anything but!!).
Had very little time to think weddings today! Though a videographer phoned after we'd left a couple of messages for her and is free for our wedding next year and charges £450. That's not too bad I don't think. Most were between £500 and £1000.
Right Apprentice on now (erm.....I mean planning!!) XX:j:j Getting married 28th July 2012 :j:j0 -
I did consider it
But decided against it... I don't want our guests to feel like they have to bring anything other than themselves
Besides I have already printed and made all the invites so it's too late now lol.
If there is anything I can help with Rach re: lesson plan, maths ideas just scream
PS Yep apprentice is far more important0 -
Thank you! Think I know what I'm doing - 2D shapes. Few different activities to do with 2D shapes. Not much writing - plenty of paired work. Saying that though, I'll probably change my mind by next week!! What age do you teach? I taught years 3/4 for 2 terms and before that had year 3 for a year.
Are you doing a guest list? If you don't want gifts then you could say something like - we don't want gifts just bring a bottle?!?!
I'm not sure how much you'd get though for £450 so you've probably got plenty!!! xx:j:j Getting married 28th July 2012 :j:j0 -
I teach Yr 1 through to Yr 6 in Reading, Writing, Number and Speaking & Listening - love it!!
One of my fave activities with shapes is showing them a shape covered up... reveal a small bit ask what shape it is, why they think that, why it can't be a such and such... reveal a bit more, check if they still think it's that shape... then reveal it all and see if they were right. Really good doing different orientations like an isosceles triangle pointy side down, or a square on the slosh. Definitely not much writingMaths (in my opinion) should be more verbal/practical than spending ages writing things down all perfect in a book
On our guest list we have:
6 underaged children
6 young teen children who between them may be allowed (by their parents) to drink 9 drinks. (1.5 drinks each)
14 relatives that won't stay till the small hours, and who will drink enough to be sociable - not to get blathered = 54 drinks. (3.8 drinks each)
15 friends/relatives that will stay with us till the small hours but who won't get blathered = 99 drinks (6.6 drinks each)
12 friends/relatives that will stay with us till the small hours and who will probably drink a lot = 161 drinks (13.4 drinks each - over 7+ hrs)
That comes out as 323 drinks... but for £450 I think I can get:
48 bottles of cider
155 bottles/cans of beer/lager
42 bottles of wine = 210 glasses (at 150ml each)
=413 drinks so that gives 90 drinks extra... nearly 2 drinks each more than I've planned for.
Plus 196 soft drinks.0 -
You've just pretty much described the starter to my lesson lol!! Got shapes on a PPT where you can only see a part of them and for the children to guess what they are, then show a bit more etc.!!
Looking at your breakdown (can't believe how organised you are!!!) you'll definately have enough!! If I had 13.4 drinks I don't think I'd see tomorrow!!!:j:j Getting married 28th July 2012 :j:j0 -
Thanks Rach
Oooo great minds(It was shared with us by our numeracy consultant when the NS still existed!!)
I do the same activity with my number children - when their targets are to read numbers 0 to 10.Love it!
I am nearly happy with the amount of alcohol we're getting in. The cider is the only one we wouldn't polish off one way or the other - but I'm sure my middle brother would be happy to take that home. The beer/lager MrD'd happy drink, and the wine I'd happily cook with (or give away for gifts). I'm only organised really thanks to this site - lol there was a thread earlier about how much alcohol to get - that got me just double checking (and panicking) about my original plans (when we were having nothing after the ceremony - now we're having a small BBQ for our immediate family who want to come back to ours afterwards, and starting the party for the reception at 5 instead of 7). I can't wait till we're 6 months away so I can start buying it all... will add the odd couple of bottles to my shopping each week (taking advantage of bargains) so we don't notice it all going out in one great lump.
Now the OCDer in me wants to have a red, white and rose wine in the same 'make'. I don't want to spend any more than £6 a bottle. So far I've got my eye on some Echo Falls, but as I don't drink wine I may be coming and asking all your advice/help!!0 -
Echo Falls Rose is lovely one of my favs, often on 3 for £10 at Asda:D Gallo or turning leaf is lovely too, often more expensive but does go on 3 for £10 sometimes. I usually stock up then.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0
