Well for those of you not on FB - I have just bloody killed myself!! I did 4.99km (well my Nike Plus Strap said 5.01Km when I stopped) in 29 mins 55 seconds... :T I am really really really pleased with that indeed!!0
-
I have definitely found you have to go with what you want otherwise it turns into a circus of great aunt Nelly twice removed throwing in their thoughts on the matter! Lol! Xxx0
-
Just saw that on facebook Natalie- well done
Well im bored and have nothing wedding to do (well that I can think of) so im currently looking online for quotes for airport parking! Have found so far its only about £20 more for us to go up the night before, stay in a hotel and have dinner, so that is an option!! Next job will be looking at holiday insurance, guess its better to get that booked sooner rather than later!!
And I agree Judobird, its impossible to please everyone so im going with the 'as long as me and my oh are happy with what we choose sod anyone else!!':D0 -
Well I have officially been being 'good' now for 4 weeks
I have lost another 1lb this week, and if I can maintain my usual average of 1.5lb loss per week then I should be back at target for wedding dress shopping day
PLUS when I've lost 2 more lbs then I am treating myself to some Mac Foundation. (Then my next treat is going to be some eye primer). :T Obviously buying all my makeup now and wearing it between now and the wedding means it doesn't count as wedding expenses ha!

Aw well done on the time that is great! I think that it is a great idea to treat yourself at the various milestones otherwise you have nothing to aim for! I wish I could be better with the food I eat, but I love food too much! grr!
Anyone else who has been off this week not looking forward to going back to work on Monday - I know I am not, will take me a day to answer emails and return messages to people! Argh!
On the wedding front I have collected some spangly brochures for the honeymoon today, but the brochures appear to be displaying some hefty prices, when I look on the internet it seems to be a lot cheaper! xx0 -
:S I don't normally get sad about going back to school - well not any more - I used to really hate it when I was new to teaching... but on Monday my schools are shut for training so I've got to go to my office and write 4 reports, and prepare a powerpoint presentation for a 10 min input I'm giving at Monday's staff meeting. So I'm not really looking forward to that.
Have you read Martin Lewis' MSE article about haggling for best prices on holidays? It's worth a read. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-holiday-haggling-guide0 -
Ah that's cool thanks a lot, we are planning a trip to California for 10 days and some of the prices are coming up at £4,000 a person, Which is way off the level of reasonable expenditure for me. I have checked some websites for this year and they are coming up for about £3000 for both of us for 5* accom (granted I am aware that there is a lot less time between now and this summer) but I figured even if I add 20% of that price on it is still less than the price of one persons trip for next year in 4* accom.
We are not too fussed as to our accom as long as it is nice and well situated for us to do everything we want to do.
I'm now not sure whether to try and haggle now or next year.... hmm. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?0 -
I *think* the general consensus is if you want a specific holiday at a specific time early is best, but if you are less restrained then later is best... but pop on over to the Overseas and travel forum and ask them
Well today I made the decision to invite my godmother to our aftershow party. Part of me wouldn't mind her coming to the actual ceremony but then that would open up the floodgates for all of our less-immediate family. Think it'll be a nice chance for my mum to show off to her best friend that her daughter is getting married (and looks amazing lol). We all used to be really close as children - they lived opposite us.So I've popped to the post office and bought three more stamps (one for her invite, one for her thank you card, and one for her to return the writable CD-Rom back to us). Glad I made one extra of each! (I still have one spare thank you card - just incase!) So this brings our guest list up to 53 (including us).
Oh and we got a new fishy again todaylol - must stop buying non-wedding related things pmsl!

Talking about buying non-wedding things, I'm still in Jamboree mode (that's why I'm off to Sweden!)... and am desparately looking for a mug with a clip to attach it to my rucksack. Have brought a new watch for it, didn't want to wear my posh watch on camp for two weeks. Still trying to decide whether I actually needed to purchase new trainers, but when I tried them on, they were so comfortable I had to have them. And no doubt I will buy a load of stuff out there I actually don't need.... hey ho, that's why I've been saving for a year and anything left will go towards the wedding.
Once I'm back from Jamboree, I've got the A level results to contend with and worried candidates calling to find out if they are in or not, hoping all those that have been made an offer get what they need and join my course in September, it's always a fun couple of weeks, I generally send the students on a wild goose chase in the Department as I'm on the first floor in the School office and all the academics are in the basement so it's lots of fun sending them up and down the stairs.0 -
Oh new trainers are a must any time of the year and for any reason.
Totally off topic but I just noticed your 2011 wins - think you've updated since I last saw - well done on the nano!!I do competitions but only during school holidays when I don't have an OU assignment to do. Did a load at Easter - best prize was 4 tickets to a comedy show in Nottingham - was a great night out.
Well I've finally ticked off everything I wanted to get done this holiday. Just finished cutting all the hedges.
Well as it's nearly the last day of the holidays I think it's time for a weddingy list update me thinks:
This holiday I haven't really done all that much weddingy wise.
(Orange = organised but not completed. Green = nothing left to do/done other than pay. Red = needs thinking about).
Invites & Stamps - The envelopes just need addressing then these are ready to post.
Thank you Cards (with CD) & Stamps - These are all ready for writing and sending.
Registry Office - The only thing left to do is pay.
Notice - Booked for 1st August this year.
Marriage Certificate - Can't do anything about this - will get it when the ceremony is done (plus one spare copy).
Rings - I know I want a Heavy D 18Ct White Gold 2mm band in a size K from Striacroft jewellers in town. MrD just needs to decide whether he would like a ring and if so what sort etc.
Wedding Dress - 8 weeks till I go dress shopping!!
Underwear
My shoes
Accessories - Well I have started looking at accessories - I have bought a possible bangle, depending on my dress this could be all the accessories I wear so this is either an orangey or a greeny item.
Hair - I know what style I will have, but will just check once I've decided on my dress. Will have lots of plays to perfect doing it as well.
Makeup - Slowly sorting my make up out. I have got foundation, lisptick, and mascara that I'm happy with. I just need to sort out what eye shadow to wear (although I do have one that I love so may just wear that), and some blusher (need some advice on best colouring to suit me really with this one). When I next have a play with my hair I may have a play with eye make up.
Flowers - The designs of my bouquet and MrD's buttonhole are organised but I need to decide whether I want ivory or white flowers in amongst the burgundy ones - but I'll decide that when I know what dress I'm getting.
MrD's suit - MrD's mum is going to help sort this one out - take him suit shopping etc.
MrD's shoes
BBQ for after the ceremony - This pretty much speaks for itself - meat, salad, bread. Done. But will break it down into quantities etc nearer the date.
Marque for the garden party
Seating Just need to pay off the rest of the bill.
Alcohol for the party- Will be buying this around Christmas to take advantage of any offers. (Although at the moment Asda are doing really cheap Corona - MrD's beer of choice - just a shame it wouldn't store until next July else I'd stock up!)
Catering for the party - I just have to wait to closer to the date so I can place a tescos/asda order.
Cake - Have a cake stand. Just have to wait closer to the date to order the cheesecakes.
Decorations - 56 Paper Hearts all ready to be completed and hung up around the garden. Need to sort out the garden torches, organza bows for the chairs and legs of gazebos/torches, balloon cloud 9s, and table confetti for around the buffet.
Entertainment - We need to sit down and plan our music to be streamed throughout the house and garden.
Hen night - Hopefully the weekend before will get me and my CBMIIWHO booked in for our hair and nails to be done, then take her to my fave restaurant for tea.
Stag night - He can organise that!
409 days to go till our wedding!!
The last time I did this update was only on the 21st May (two weeks ago lol). Back then there was:
9 green, 10 ambers, and 6 reds
Today there is: 9 green, 13 ambers, and 3 reds.0
