I have rang twice after reading this thread. Managed to get my dad a new HD box, instAllation free and 20% off for six months. I already have the HD box so I have had half price six months. I just said I was leaving to go to virgin as they have offered me a fab package for six months. Virgin tv isn't even available in my area lol
:j:j:j
For anyone who feels worried about calling just go for it!! When I closed my Nans account it took about three months to actually shut it as they wouldn't take no for an answer lol0 -
I rang the 0808 freephone number posted earlier on in this thread and asked to be transfered to the cancellations department straight away. I said that I considered sky to be a luxury not an essential and was thinking of cancelling it to save money as we paid a lot each month. The phone call took 28 mins as the guy was going through the benefits of sky against bt total vision which i said i would go to as we have phone and broadband with bt on contract. At the end of the call he offered me the 50% discount for 6 months which is saving us £20.25 per month. Thank you so much OP and everyone else on this thread who has phoned them, for encouraging me to ring up.0

Quick word of warning, definitely go through to the cancellations as I went to 'remove' section first and managed to get 20% off for 6 months.
After going on virgin media and agreeing with hubby to cancel ESPN, I rang back and spoke to cancellations to try and get the 50%. They said they couldn't give me any more offers as I already had an offer on my account (the 20%).
So the moral of this story is:
a) look at Virgin's 6 months half price offer and get the figures ready to quote.
b) go through to cancellations
c) stand firm!
Once you have accepted an offer, you can't get a better one put on!
Never mind, I'm happy with the 20% and with cancelling ESPN we should be about £20 a month better off.0 -

This is the problem i have, even though they havent applied all they said they would (didnt give me half price HD like they said), this was in november, and my discount is 6 months.
I wonder if i go to cancellations and tell them i want to leave because of the above, if it will make any difference?0 -
Just got my 50% of for 6 months
Offered 25% for 12 months at first but as there is a contract tie in with this I asked if they could do 50% for 6 months instead, which has no contract attached, and they agreedThere's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
can u try this if you are still in contract or do you only have the bargaining/cancellation power if out of contract?
