well just did a quick call to cancel, 8mins later I now pay half price (11.25) for 6 months with no further tie ins!
has to be the quickest call to sky ever for me!
tried a couple of times before christmas but would only give me 6months 1/2 price with 12month tie in and only with my movies still on the account, I ended up just removing movies (nothing worth watching imo) and now have what I originally wanted
Just exactly what did you say when you rung...just that you wanted to cancel ?0 -
just continue though the (if you are thinking of leaving us press #) when they answer i said i would like to cancel as we couldnt afford now we only have one income coming in
she then asked a few questions like what we liked to watch on tv ect bla bla bla then offered my packaged half price £61.00 down to £30.50 for 6 months

yes went straight to cancel option on phone and then told them I needed to cut down my bills as not much money at the moment, this is true as i'm self employed and recently broke my elbow and un able to work. She said it was a gesture becuase of loyalty0 -
Another one for the result pile! £60p/m down to £30p/m for the next six months. Thanks for the reminder.

My friend at work had recent joined Sky but installing it became a massive pain is be-hind! She phoned continuously trying to sort a date out to fix the sky box and had many issues with the box and installation. I know there are a few peopleout there who might even say they "hate" sky because of the problems theyve had but I think I should say that I absolutely love Sky. I have had no problems with them and had it installed within the expected time and even got the free vouchers sent pretty quick to me too. Just wanted to share my 2 pence worth as a valued Sky customer.
Loving the HD Discovery channels0 -
I phoned them back today and asked how much notice i have to give to cancel my services and basically after telling me 31 days, but why... he then went on to offer me a free Sky + HD box, free installation and free HD channels for 6 months and half price on the rest of my TV package for 6 months too. After being told the cost of what I'd be paying now and how much it would jump up to in 6 months, I elected to spread the discounts over 12 months, so have the same saving, but the same payments for 12 months with so much more than I already have.
The guy in not so many words did tell me to keep shopping around and to call back if I can get any better deals on anything else, but at this moment in time, he couldn't give me any other offers within 'that' phone call.
I'm pretty impressed anyway with what I have already as I don't really want to switch from Sky, so may just accept what I have now, or look to see if there's any further savings that can maybe be made on my phone and broadband I have with them, though I think that side of things is pretty competitive and reliable anyway.....
Thank you to you all on here though, it's certainly given me the guts to ask!0 -

Go in with the definite premise that you need to cancel. If you sound unsure or they think they can win you round (they get bonuses based on retention and higher bonuses based on retention without giving anything away) they will try that. I've had to cancel the subscription previously (31 days notice) and it took 10 days for sky to ring me back to offer me the deal I expected to get on the phone. Go ahead and cancel. The worst thing that can come of it is you needing to phone them in 4 weeks to say you've changed your mind and you're keeping everything as is.

No dice here; had half price for a year at £25.50 but said she couldn't give me any further discounts. In the end I ended up walking away with a new phone and broadband package LOL. Oops. Good customer service though and I had no intention of leaving so I suppose that's why I may of failed as I probably sounded a little "unsure". I did reduce my package by getting rid of sports and childrens TV and ended up paying £49.75 for all but childrens & sports, weekend calls and unlimited broadband. I can't sniff at that; Virgin are charging us just a little under for only standard channels and 10mb broadband plus their customer service is just terrible. Worth a go anyway.Debt Free - Go Me0
