Anyone who knows about IT will know, that my IP address chnages everytime i log on,
So I take it from your comment that you don't know anything about I.T then.
If you are accessing your ISP through a router (as just about everyone does), logging on and off will generally have no effect on your IP address.
This is because even though you are logged off, the router still keeps an active connection to the internet provider.
The only way to guarantee a new IP address being allocated is to totally diconnnect or power down your router and leave it for some time. (depending on the provider, this may be up to 24 hours).
Connect up too soon and the same address will be allocated back to you.
This is even providing your ISP uses dynamic addresses. Some now allocate a static address so there will be no way to change it without asking your provider each time.0 -
Degree in IT and working with IT for 15 years - Yeah I know a bit about IT. I dont have a static IP address and my IP address changes everytime i log in. This was confirmed by my ISP as well.0

Why ask your ISP to issue a new address? You've stated that your address changes each time you log on.i'll reset my modem and ask my isp to switch my broadband channel and issue me with a new ip address –
What authority?Yeah you can link IP addresses, however, you need authority and good reason to obtain billing data from the ISP to get the account information
Anyone with a degree in IT is well aware that the IP address will be clearly visible to ebay each time you log on.
Where exactly did you get your degree? eBay perhaps.
Just out of curiosity, who is your ISP? as I've never heard of a dynamic IP address that can change whilst the router connection is still active.0 -
I made that comment before i found out I wasn’t on a static IP address.
I am with O2 and the guy on the phone stated my IP address changes every time - So i suppose you guys will argue the toss with O2 and state they are wrong.
Regulations and Investigation Powers Act covers personal information associated with telecommunications. If i have a phone number or IP address and I want to see the personal details behind that, you will need authority - But I guess I am going to be told thats wrong as well. You will find in particular with IP addresses that ISP's will only hold the data for about 3 months associated with that account.
No I didn’t get my degree from Ebay.
Where did you get all your "Facts" which you post on this board - Back of cereal box?0 -
What cereal do you eat? And how would ripa cover ebay being able to say "account a signed in from IP 123.abc, then account b signed in from IP 123.abc"I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Actually it's 12 months. (covered by the "The Data Retention (EC Directive) Regulations 2009") Sect 5.The retention period
5. The data specified in the Schedule to these Regulations must be retained by the public communications provider for a period of 12 months from the date of the communication in question.0 -

But thats not going to happen, as I will never have the same IP address twice. the only way they will link my useage is through two different IP addresses and getting the personal information behind it to prove it. Even then it still doesnt prove that I used someone elses account.0 -

lol - Thats good. You can always tell when someone doesnt have a degree. How? Because they come up with childish comments and excuses about why they dont need or want a degree.
Belive what you want, I cant prove that I a degree other then scan it for you all to look at, but then I am sure i'll be told its fake as no doubt the will be a self certified degree spotting expert on this board.0
