Why would they need authority? They can see clear as day which accounts are using which IP addresses, and frankly I'd be surprised if they didn't run a periodic scan for accounts currently operating through IP addresses of previously banned accounts

Anyway, you've got your answer, and I wish you well in your ebaying. Just be aware of the possibility you might get your parents account banned.

How would they do that exactly????? Just because i get suspended dosent mean my parents cant use ebay and its up to them what they buy so they cant prove that i physically used thier account
Also, what makes you think they NEED to PROVE anything if they want to ban an account?

They will need a reason to ban my parents account and the fact they logged onto thier account on my laptop is not a good enough reason to ban them. There are a number of legit reasons as to why they would access thier account from my laptop and ebay cant go round banning people because they think it was me that was using their account when they havent got any proof

No, but they can decide not to let someone use their service for whatever reason they wish (as long it's not discriminatory)

It's ebays game, and they make the rules and get to choose who can play.
It's clearly stated in their user agreement that they can close any account for any reason at any time they wish.
Being an ebay member is not a legal right, it's simply something that they allow you to do.

They certainly do check IP addresses, as a while ago they were stopping some people from listing items for sale if it appeared that they were attempting to do this from an unknown computer or IP address.

If you do as planned, you may well not get noticed, but there is also the chance that your parents will lose their ebay account as well.

just to cleear something up, ebay don't get aggressive over fees they do send them to a debt collector but if you just say i dispute the fees and you'll need to provide some proof of liability for the debt they usually just send it back to ebay and forget about it, also for a couple of quid it wont be worth going to court over so nothing much is likely to happen,

however, ebay need no permission to view your ip address this is displayed to any website you visit.

i think you are confusuing this with when people obtain personal address information based on your ip, for example where copyright infringement occures on file sharing websites and a solicitors obtains the persons personal details from the internet provider.

all your ip address is is a series of numbers unique to your internet connection so if you log into your parents account from your computer it will show your ip, ebay also place cookies on your computer so even if you have a laptop and lets say you take this to your mum and dads and log in using their internet connection and their ip address your computer may contain cookies which will identify you and your parents will lose their account, for good.

Of course it is sufficient reason to ban someone. Just look at some of the threads we have currently on the ebay board, someone has been linked to his errant brother and has had his paypal account closed and is likely to lose the ebay one as a resutl of that. That is unfortunate, your own position though is much more straightforward, you are not allowed to use a different account when suspended on one, therefore you are endangering your parents account as you are breaking the rules.

As for the IP, read the terms and conditions, they log your IP that's why so many of us get that annoying message about how we are using a different IP and need to reconfirm who we are.

i'll reset my modem and ask my isp to switch my broadband channel and issue me with a new ip address - sorted
  • The last two words of your opening post.
    Please help

Many people have tried to help and given you lots of advice which you seem determined to ignore, so why bother asking in the first place?

The goods you sold were not delivered to your buyer (maybe their fault or maybe that of Royal mail), but it doesn't matter which) and you have received them back

Now for the sake of a few pounds (maybe even less), you are going to risk your parents losing their ebay account and possibly their paypal account.
It may be better for everyone if you simply stuck to boot fairs and sunday markets.
