Buyer beware! On my phone call from a gentleman at the money club he told me about the trial and that the normal fee was £8 per month if I wished to continue. When I got the paperwork through I was surprised to discover the normal fee is taken annually and is £98. I cancelled my membership and checked with my bank the direct debit had not been set up, which it had not. I received an e-mail on 25th November stating my membership was cancelled. On calling the bank last week to run through my account I discovered The Money Club had set up the direct debit after I cancelled my membership and taken the £98! I called them but because it was Saturday they could not help me. I called them numerous times and they are now sending me a cheque back which I have yet to receive a week later :mad:0

Hi, how I wish I`d looked at this forum first - I should have known better. I stupidly took up the months trial and the stated £1 was taken out of my account on 8th Dec which I assumed was the trial start date. I did not receive the promised pack and still haven`t. I went to cancel 3 weeks later only to find that they`d already taken £98 out of my account for the full years membership - something their represenatative hadn`t told me about. He`d told me that I could cancel any time I liked and that it would cost me £8 a month. When I tried to get my money back under these circumstances - no pack and his comments - I was told they`d have to listen to the tapes first and I said fine but nake sure I can hear them too if you are going to dispute my version. Guess what no mention of tapes when they sent me a letter saying I can`t have my money back as I had tried to cancnel after the date stated in the pack....WHAT PACK! I`ve just rung them and after hanging on for 1/2 and hour to speak to the "operations assistant" and telling them I`d pop down if they`d rather as I don`t live far away; I eventually spoke to her and she told me she`d need to speak to a manager and get back to me this afternoon .............!! Watch this space :doh:P.S. sorry this has been so long. Well she got back to me within an hour but still saying that the manager had to deal with it and they`d forward my reply in the post, oh and she get send me out a pack.......doh! No pack please - just money. Looks like I won`t be getting my refund. If anyone has any ideas what I could do next I`d be happy to get them. I`ve already approached the bank and apparently if I`d contacted them on the 30th Dec (when I saw the money had come out of my bank on 29th)instead of giving the money club the option of refunding my money they could have helped me but now it`s too late !!!

I too have just received a call from the Money Club. Listened to the 20 minute spiel and was quite interested.
Was actually seriously considering taking out the offer of £1 for a months trial. Thankfully got cold feet aboiut giving my bank details, even after the caller gave assurances that the DD route was totally safe.
Anyway finally told the caller that I wanted to google them before comitting and he finally gave up.
The google search brought me here and I am so glad I did. Lookslike I have saved myselfbest part of a £100 and a load of hassle.0 -
Pah!my ridiculously stupid husband had a call from these last week while I was at work. They said that someone in this house had been looking at their website and were we interested in signing up?
Hubby assumed it was me,listened to the spiel and gave them our joint account number, sort code etc.I only realised coz I checked the account at work the same day and saw this random direct debit.Called hubby and he explained,he assumed it was me who had been looking at it!(nice tactics, money club)
Needless to say I immediately cancelled the direct debit.we received the pack yesterday and i shall be calling them, giving them a mouthful for tricking him/us and cancelling....just goes to show he is quite happy to give our bank details over the phone which I shall be having stern words with him about since reading this!0 -
Just had a call from them and googled them while she was giving me her spiel.... found this on the forum so politely said that due to the poor reviews I wasnt interested...the phone her end went down quite quickly!!! lol0

Keep well away, they make their money by charging a yearly subscription £120 which you cannot cancel. You have to give a years notice which means at least two years subscription, they deny recieving letters or emails to cancel so you are legally obliged to pay. I have been unable to cancel now for I think six years. It has cost me dearly for something that I do not want. Be very carefull agreeing anything with these people. Do your own research on the web - you will find the best prices that way.0

Just had a call from this organisation after many silent calls (reported to OFCOM). I told the woman I wa going to report them to the TPS and asked her phone number, she said she did not have a number she wa calling from the call centre. I presume she was using a phone to call so must have had a number, mustn't she? She said I had requested a call, I hadn't, she said I must have answered a survey, o I said i had but had not wanted a call from the money club. So then she asked if I had 5 minutes and I told her no and i did not want her to call back adding "please". No need to be rude just firm. I'm glad I did not sign up.:silenced:0

as every body has said AVOID at all costs.
they have taken 120 pounds from my account.
i rung my bank and made an indemnity claim. the money will be back in my account
within 2 days.....its the only way to deal with low life shark s**t like this .
i rung to find out why they had taken the money out and some snotty girl
gave me a load of bull about writing a letter . at that point i put the phone down
and sorted it thou my own bank . these people require an old fashioned method
of punishment, which i would be more than happy to administer0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Had a phone call for my husband on 29th June from the Money Club. They said he had contacted them that day for details on their website. Impossible as my husband was away and nowhere near a computer. We don't know where they got the name from or the telephone number, someone somewhere has obviously sold our details. I just hung up on him as I knew there was something wrong. What fails to astonish me is that if this has been going for as long as the dates of some of these posts why hasn't something been done!0
