:cool:Just had a call from these people and stupidly gave them my bank details.
Rang my bank to cancel direct debit minutes after call ended and the grey mist cleared fom my brain.
Bank told me to check my account daily to ensure direct debit not taken, but apparently bank unable to prevent setting up of debit by money club.
How strange.
I also realised that the number the rep called me from was one that had been the subject of silent calls over the past 2 weeks.
I also answered a shopping survey recently, so possibly connected
won't have anything more to do with these people, and wont be caught out again ( i hope)0 -
Hi,
I just had a call from these guys too. I didn't sign up to anything - my offer was 4 wks trial for £1 then the usual joining fee of £98!
I also had a market research call about a week ago.
Will be avoiding this "money-saver".0 -
I've googled them and loads of people seem to have been taken in with this ... please, please avoid.0

I also had call from a shopping survey a few weeks ago and yesterday had a call from The Money Club. Told the women I would check it out and for her to call me back tomorrow. She will be getting a big fat NO if she calls tomorrow! Thanks guys!
ETA: I would of normally said no straight away but caller said they gaurantee to get it cheaper than I can. Ummm.....I am currently looking at a friend bringing an ipod touch over from the US. Cost £146 do you think the money club could get it cheaper? Prehaps I will ask the question before saying no tomorrow!!:rotfl:0 -
I joined 4 weeks ago. Website dreadful. Joined for a pound, then they said they would take £98 for the rest of the membership a month later.
I telephoned to cancel after a week. They have still taken the money out of my account.
I have tried to contact them for over 3 hours now. i am still in a queue. Yhis has been over 3 days.
I have just gotten thru' to them. The customer service advisor is on her lunch. I said you only have 1 customer service advisor. He said 2 but one is on holiday. Absolute nonsense
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE!!!!!0 -
I had a call today and was told I could join for £1, then he said that lots of people cancel membership and then rejoin for a £1 again. I asked him to ring back tomorrow.
I know now what my answer will be.0 -
I'm so glad I found this thread!
They called me today and the woman was very pushy trying to get my bank details which made me wary so I said I had to pick my daughter up (so I could research them) and she promised to ring back which she has twice so far but I haven't answered yet.
Thanks everyone for possibly preventing me making a big mistake.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Yeah, I made the mistake of handing over my sort code and account number, making it clear that I was not entering into any agreement over the phone. They said it was only to conduct credit checks so that my application would not be delayed if I decided to go ahead.
I looked on here and found out it was a scam, so decided not to go any further with it.
Next thing I know HSBC have "honoured" a Direct Debit first payment (only £1) even though I've never given them any instruction to do so. I rang up, cancelled the payment and the DD but I'm a bit annoyed they would let some scammer open a DD wihtout any supporting documentation.
Now I'll have to check my account every day...0 -
very unlike me but i handed over my details last week without doing some research first. Ive just cancelled the D/D online and emailed and written to money club to cancel the account but I fear ive not heard the last of this somehow.....gutted.....never again.0
