  • Hi Bekki - welcome! Hi jemB - I do a lot of lurking around here, I tend to get a bit distracted and not post all of the time! Plus, with my ongoing procrastination I am not getting much done so don't have much to report.

I had a lovely vintage petticoat arrive today, I just hope it goes with the dress! If it does it will need to be dyed as my dress is not white but the petticoat is!

I love that you are having leopard print shoes jemb! are you having a traditional dress? it's probably really wrong but I HATE shoe shopping and looking for shoes doesn't interest me at all, I need to give it a bit more thought really, i know I don't want ugly shoes, but I just don't want to go shoe shopping lol.
:) Trying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often! :p

Aw Bolan! Do more sharing! lol. My dress is quite old school, long, quite big train etc, but I just refuse to buy shoes (one of my main vice!) that I cant ear again, ie, those naff satin ones (appologies to naff satin shoe owners). I wanted some I could wear again, hence Mother the star she is suggested some Jimmys! Et Voila! Leopard print Jimmy Choos! I thought thy would be MEGA expensive, but not really in the grand scheme of things. My BF bought hers this year from Schuh and they cost her £120, mine were £180 which yes, is v expensive for shoes, but saved on what though the dress would cost, so swings and round abouts I guess!

Vintage petticoat sounds ace! What colours your dress? X

    Hi everyone,
I'm getting married on 14 April and can't wait. Although I have been engaged for nearly 5 years we have only in the last couple of months started planning the wedding and I am getting obsessive! It's all I talk about and think I am driving OH mad haha. Really excited and can't wait to hear how everyone else is getting on.
So far we have booked the venue (same place all day), the photographer, ordered my dress, got my shoes and picked my bridesmaid's dress out. Oh yeah, and offended loads of friends and family by telling them we are having a small wedding with just the people we really want there, no extended family, no plus ones for people we don't know. Just the people we really love... from their reactions you would think that is the most ridiculous guest list ever
How is everyone else getting on? Bet I am really behind on the planning compared to others.
  • Sorry for not updating all you lovelies for a while and welcome to the newer people :)

Bought a £2.75 veil from ebay the other week and its came and is fab (though i still don't know whether i'll wear it)! Sorted out a backdrop and table skirt to hide the fire exits sign and to rotate the aisle so i don't walk in from the side. Erm... Had a dilemma about my invites cos they had vistaprint in the corner so i am starting to put a piece of ribbon over the bottom edge and now looks fabulous! And i have found a videographer that we are both happy with.

Apart from that and sending deposits left right and centre i've done nothing since my last update, ha ha.

    :)

This is the first time I have quoted so hope it works lol:rotfl:

I love the idea of a alice in wonderland wedding Solstice, think it would be wonderful to be able to have such a fun day. I saw something similar on here I think, and the person had little signs on their crockery etc, such as 'Eat me' and 'Drink me'.

If you're wearing an alice dress, what will your partner be wearing? Will you see each others outfits before the day, or do you think you will keep it a surprise? How exciting :T
My partner is going to be the Mad Hatter :rotfl:I'm being very easy going about guests - my mother is desperate to be the Red Queen a la Helena Bonham Carter, but I've basically said if people want to dress up, fine, and if they don't, that's fine, too.

I got my quote through for the venue today, which is actually not as scary as I thought it would be. So next job is to give notice during our week off work at the end of the month, and pray that our date at the registry office is available. My mother has very kindly offered to pay the deposit for the venue, which will more than halve our wedding costs :D as the venue is doing all the decorating, food, etc, included in the package, so we've just got to save up for our outfits, the registry office and the remainder of the venue, then all the little costs that we can spread over the next few months, like buying invitations, the rings, favours and little gifts for the people who are helping us out in some way. A colleague is going to make the cake for us and has also offered to do my hair, and I'll be doing all my own makeup, no bridesmaids or other people to buy dresses for.... so hopefully, it's not actually going to be as hideously expensive as I first feared! :T

Lollipop80, I know what you mean about things seeming to go so slowly! We've picked out pretty much everything we need to buy, but with the massive repairs our car needed to get through its MOT, we're financially wiped out this month (and next month while I clear my CC again) so until we can start paying for things, I don't thinkour plans are going to progress much beyond getting the venue booked and the registry office confirmed before Christmas!
    Original debts: £14,250
Still to pay: £250 /£950 - Lloyds TSB overdraft (although with interest and charges, I've already paid £1,675!)

    VSP#150 - £68.25

Bridesmaid dress ordered :) another thing ticked off my list. Plus as she isn't going to wear the straps I am going to give one to the baker and the other to the florist so the colour matches perfectly *fingers crossed*

Hi ladies, how are we all doing?! I am super excited as we went to a wedding fayre at the weekend at our ceremony venue, it was really nice to see it all laid out like it would be at a wedding! I am no good at technology but this is a link to some of the pics (some set up like a wedding, some just how the museum normally is)

*edited as stupid link not working - however you can see the guildhall here http://www.leicester.gov.uk/your-council-services/lc/leicester-city-museums/weddings-at-museums/weddings-at-the-guildhall/

It's such a lovely place and the lady that works there talked to us for ages about how the cermony would go and what they would let us do and how the day would work and she answered some of those little niggly questions we've been wondering about! It was really lovely to go there together, couldn't get the smile off my face!

And on Wednesday me and my sis are going to try on my dress and my petticoat to see if they work together, and I am really excited about that just because it's an excuse to put my dress on again :j
