    Hi Emma,

You're getting married on my birthday! I'm getting married a few days after you on 12th April 2012.

Originally looked at a Sunday wedding as it was cheaper, but then found Thursdays were even better and wanted an April wedding (price is better and you can never guarentee good weather at anytime of the year!) and was looking at the end of April, but when we visited the venue I wanted (had my heart set on it the moment I visited it even before I was engaged) and they only had 1 Thursday left in April! So booked it there and then.

Got my dress already but was mega worried to begin with. My fiance's aunt use to have a wedding dress shop and still had some dresses, so my future mother-in-law suggested a night to invite people round to try the dresses on, I didn't want to as firstly I knew what type of dress I wanted and didn't want many people to know what it looked like until I walk down the isle on the day... and at the dress evening most of my fiance's family were there.... I tried on a few dresses but they were all too small (I had a metal rod put in my back due to scoliosis and I have a wide back because of it so although I look thin, I'm a size 18 shirt/dress sometimes due to my back) I was mega upset and the evening made me feel awful!

I then went to a wedding shop near where I work, and the 2nd dress I tried on fitted and I fell in love with..... and it was 1/2 price as it was a sample (ie the one they let you try on in the shop before ordering) Found out from her that the dresses I tried on round my future mother-in-laws were American sizes so that's why they came up so small! Felt so much better after that!!!

Got my bridesmaids dresses (well my little bridesmaids) from BHS in the sale, the pink petal ones, taking them round to them this week to check they fit ok. Go to go back to my wedding dress shop in October to get my sisters bridesmaid dress.

Things I'm having problems with will be the page boys outfits though.... not getting fiance's suit until later in the year/early next year and he wants a purple waistcoat (we are having pink and purple theme... started off champagne, then red and now pink and purple) but my future mother in law wants to buy her youngest son his page boy suit in the sale now and then waistcoat seperately, but I'm not sure if I want the BHS suits for the page boys with the purple waistcoats, or M&S ones, or hire waistcoats but won't know until when I'm getting my fiance's suit but she wants to get her page boys stuff in the sale (the BHS one is £45 for the full page boy set which I think is ok but she wanted to save money)

Also need to sort out the decoration for the venue and flowers (I know what flowers I want just need to get round to getting quotes) but only want table decoration etc, no chair covers and sashes (our chairs are leather for both the meal and ceremony and if we have covers they change the chairs to the hard ones, also I have Muscular Dystrophy and trip over things easily and it's going to be hard enough not tripping over my dress without worrying about tripping over chair covers!)

So annoying though as nothing really to do at the moment, but really want to get stuff brought/ordered but it's too early lol although I know it will come up very quickly!

Having my gift list from John Lewis, already have the cards but can't do my list until February (after the sales)..... can't wait to do that!

First thing I brought for my wedding was glittery silver ballet pumps from french sole! (£98 but worth it for me as I can't walk in high heels and wanted nice comfy shoes that are pretty and that I won't fall over in)

I'll be 26 (and 3 days) when I get married

It's so nice to have more April 2012 brides here! Welcome :)

I am very surprised by how organised everyone is! I have all these books and lists of things I know I need to do, but April is such a long time away I keep thinking it's too early, plus saving money for the wedding is an ongoing thing and I don't really have much saved yet so I know I can't go splashing out on things which I know can 'wait' a few months :(

My latest news is that my in-laws-to-be told us last Friday that they are going to pay for our honeymoon - it was a complete surprise but they have insisted that we go away somewhere special! I don't know about any one else but I find accepting gifts/generosity really difficult, I always feel like I don't deserve it! I have to pinch myself sometimes to realise how lucky I am. My OH's family are such lovely people and I can't wait to officially be part of their family :)
:) Trying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often! :p

Wow... it's been busy here recently!!!

Work has been MENTAL in recent weeks, but I am now off for the next 5 weeks! Yay! I love teaching!!!

I haven't done much more really, although I have bought the dress, which it seems like my Mum is going to pay most of.

My Grandparents phoned last night to announce they were giving us £500 towards the wedding, which is all the deposits I need to pay covered, plus some, which is fab!!!

Spent tonight punching out lots of purple butterflies for invites... I know I'm early, but I have all the stuff and they are quite time consuming so I thought I'd make them in the summer, then just write them nearer the time. I need 3 butterflies for each invite, and am making about 70ish, so that's 210, plus 80 for place names, 290, plus more for table number signs and table plan... well over 300 butterflies need punching, and the punch is blimmin hard work!!!

Anyway, I have church, hall, ice cream trike, dress, invites, cakes sorted, so next official job is sorting out caterers, need to make a couple of phonecalls tomorrow and see what I can do.
We also need to book our car, which I am hoping to do next Thursday when OH is off and we can go together.

Also need tablecloths as well... more internet research needed I feel!!!

I will be back more often over the next few weeks, now I have so much spare time (avoiding housework and school preperation!!!)

I'm having purple with butterlies, mainly because I desperately wanted to use my gorgeous butterfly punch on our invites... now I've started however, I'm almost regretting it!!!

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to say i'm an April 2012 bride too :) can i please join too?

Haven't really planned much yet so getting nervous reading how far other people have got, must get a move on.

So far we have booked the venue for the 5th April. It was a package deal so it includes the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception. I've provisionally booked the registrar, going to see them on the 8th August to give notice. I know what I need to take with me, but what exactly does it involve?

Going wedding dress shopping on Saturday, I am so excited but nervous. I know I will fall in love with the most expensive dress and I really do not want to spend more than I have to (have a rough budget in my head but am willing to be flexible)

I have a friend who makes amazing cakes so she will be making ours as thats kind of sorted. Another friend of mine works at a printers and has offered to do my invites for free, however she leaves in a month so I have to get something sorted before then. Had a few ideas but need to pin the OH down to decide what our theme is exactly so we can get going with them. So far we like blue (a mixture of royal and ice blue) with a star theme, but this could change at any time.

Thats it, that is all I have sorted :s

I'm having flutterbies! Not quite so creative though, bough a load to randomly put places from Country baskets and those place cards that have them on with gold and brown which I was a bit scared about being too dark, but the bridesmaid dresses are a mink colour so lightens things up!

Well I found the perfect dress in the first shop that I went into. As soon as I tried it on I loved it. Felt really nervous buying it though as I had not been to any other shops. My sister begged the shop to hold the dress until we had looked around, which they very kindly did. It was a one off dress so I couldn't even order it if it had sold. After much searching in other shops, nothing looked half as good so I went back and bought 'the one'. Just need to get it altered now as its too long, but they have given me the number of the lady they recommend. Still have knots in my stomach though, never thought it would be that easy to find a dress, and know I have one I don't know what to do with myself (weird I know).

Not sure how to quote, but Sweetsounding, have you tried approaching cafes etc about jam jars or did you want brand new ones? My works has a cafe and we have people asking for them quite often (ours are given to another member of staff though). Maybe ask one or two cafes if they can keep them for you. If you wanted new ones then ignore this message lol, or maybe try ebay.
