Hello and welcome Rock Queen! I think burgundy is fine, I am not paying too much attention to the 'correct' time of year thing - I say whatever you want go for! and I agree with Choc Addict it will go with the castle
Choc Addict - so happy for you that you found the dress! I always thinking letting someone else suggest things can be for the best, what we think we want and what we will actually love are very different things! And I know the feeling about the budget thing... nightmare!
Welcome jemb! I like the idea of brown bridesmaid dresses, we want brown suits for the men but I don't know if we are going to find the style we want! What style of dresses did you get in the end? Because I may well have pregnant bridesmaids by April I am not thinking too much about bridesmaids dresses yet because I have no idea what size they may be!
As for my partner's ex, it is not easy, at times it has been very challenging, she is a very strange and sometimes unstable woman! However, when it comes to the wedding she has so far (touch wood!) kept her nose out - she'd better keep it that way!
And yes, there are children, 2 of them, both under 8 years old. They are great kids, and we get on great. So my wedding is a big day, not only do I gain a husband, but I officially become a 'step mother' (not the evil kind though lol) :rotfl:
P.S I don't know if anyone knows this, but we have done the 'intention to marry' interview, and we have been sent through the notifications. Our ceremony is in a different area to where we live, so we have had to declare our intention in one place, and now I think the registrar in our ceremony area needs the notifications (but it's not clear from the paperwork!) does anyone know for sure? xxTrying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often!

Hi Bolan, we're having brown suits to. Try Moss bros, they do one called Bournville and it's lovely. Think its around about £100 to rent and every 5 suits you get the groom free we were told. Need to get them ordered!Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

Oooooh we have such a collection of April brides now. i'm far too organised for my own good and don't have much planning left to do till end of the year. Found a gorgeous dress for my mam yesterday but its out of stock in her size BOOOO!
Miss Bolan - you don't even want to get me started on OH ex wife! Long story short - as soon as she realised we were staying together she stopped him seeing the kids. We have been fighting for over a year now through the courts and shes done everything possible to delay the proceedings including going to the police and accusing him of all sorts and moving districts which means a new court... Costing us more than the bloody wedding! Psycho exes - they're an ex for a reason!
No idea about the intention to marry thing - i would give the registrars in the district your marrying a ring just to find out whats next.
I bought some material to change the BM dresses yesterday from Debenhams sale - there's some great dresses in the sale suitable for BM and Mothers if your still looking
x:DStolen the OH's account so it's Jenna - not Neil:D0 -

I'm glad I am not the only one who has an ex to deal with - it's not easy! I suppose we are lucky in a way, as my partner's ex has made lots and lots of threats re access to the children but she has never followed through on it (and to be honest, it's been over 2 years now, and I think she would struggle to stop him seeing them now! I'm sure a court would want to know why she suddenly has a problem with it!). She has also caused us problems with the police etc (a long, and very unpleasant story which I won't go into!)
Luckily we have the kids every other weekend and once overnight every week so we have regular contact, I've taken the day off to look after the littlest one today as she has chicken poxI don't know how my OH would cope without seeing them - I can't imagine how hard it must be for your partner.
Not that I want to kill the mood of the wedding chat thread, but if you ever want a rant re the ex feel free! I know what it can be like!
Anyway, I havent got much more wedding news, I have created a 'save the date' web page which I am going to email to guests now and which eventually I will turn into our wedding website but that's about it. Just remembered I meant to ring the registrar and I forgot - must do that tomorrow!
I had a question I wanted to ask my fellow April 2012'ers (more because I am nosy than anything else!) and people don't have to answer if they don't want to, but I was wondering how old everyone was?
I am 26, will be 27 when I am marriedTrying to be good and watch the pennies, but guilty of falling off the wagon every so often!

Hey all,
Finalised our date as the 21st April so thought i'd come over and join
Done quite a lot so far but still have to get round to putting in our notice at the registry, should really get on this i guess!- Booked and paid for honeymoon and reception (a converted school which is let out at £13/hr!!)
- Bought disposable plates (in our colour scheme, apple/mint green), paper straws, wooden cutlery.
- Bought a few jars for displaying sweets (25p in charity shop!)
- Bought dress (£30 TK Maxx
sooooo frickin amazing!)
- Bought trousers (£7 TK Maxx reduced from £80) so need shirt
- Bought Vivienne Westwood Mellissa style shoes from china (soo realisitic, its scary!)
- Bought brogues off ebay (£10 ...handmande in the UK, real leather)
- Table Cloths
- Invites (making ourselves)
- Book Registry
- Jam Jars (as cups to drink out of...but need 60 of them!!)
- Somthing to keep our 12 child guest entertained
- Ribbon...you always need ribbon
- Make strings of paper cranes and fans as decoration
There think that'll do for now, hopefully start crossing these things off as i gather them. Its really difficult not to go mad and buy everything (and suffer the consequences!) I want them all now but know i need to hold off till they're in the sale or nearer the time (where do you store it all? i've a huge wedding box but its getting fuller weekly :rotfl:)
P.S I'm 23, will be 24 at xmas0
