So long as the you have topped up the account by 3pm the day it happens the bank shouldn't charge you.

Maybe worth having a slightly bigger OD? When I had paid mine off I left £100 one on there (rather than the 1.5K it was )

I never use it but that way I know I'm covered if something did happen and won't incur charges.

Fingers crossed for the PPI claims :D

    Thanks hun

I hope all should be ok then. I am going to see how I get on with using cash only for anything other that DD as it's the debit card purchases that have been throwing me and the different amount of time they take to clear.

I can see light at the end of the tunnel. As you know, I am now trying to clear my loan after the lady told me I can over pay without penalty and it's the highest APR @ 22.x %. This will have a final payment made on it in 12 months time on 25th Oct 2012. So 13 pays days until that is gone. I will save my spare pennies every month into a pot then throw them at it at the end of the payment month in one payment as I have to call them to overpay and don't fancy doing that daily for 3p's lol.

  • Sorry but banks can insist that money is in an account 24 hours before a Direct debit is taken, I put money on at 5am when the DD came out at 2.30am, and was charged £35. I complained and was sent terms and conditions. Just wanted to make sure you were aware. Dont want to be the bearer of bad news though!

    Overpayments are always good!

I hope to be able to overpay the loan bu £50 before pay day this month. Here's to hoping.

Was away for a couple of nights this w/e gone so have all my w/e jobs still to do! Managing to plough my way through some washing and will have to iron every night this week.

Finally CB is in!!! A payment made of £47 and need food for rest of week now so the plan for tonight is home, make tea, baby bathed and in bed, Tesco with DD (she remembers the things I forget! even though I have a shopping list) then home and she goes in bath while I iron, bed time for DD then tidy up time for me. We have people coming on Sat night and I want the house organised and clean so I can relax when they are here. So tonight I plan on getting everything tidy and put away then tomorrow I will clean.

WRT money I will be receiving my expenses into my account tomorrow so can then stop being like a cat on hot tin roof worrying that I have to pay out for something but have no pennies to.

I have 2 DD equating to £91 left for the rest of the month leaving me 244 in account. This is before food tonight is taken out which will be apx £40 so say £200 left. I then owe £50 from borrowing the other day, £150 left and need to put petrol in until pay day £50 say so £100 left and get any food we require pre 25th too. So i hope to over pay at least £50. I need the kids winter boots soon, DD at least, so hope to have enough left over to buy them. DS also needs some new shoes so i may dip into their money to pay half each and that way I can get a pair for each of them.

I also would like a pair of snow boots so will get a pair with October's pay.

    Morning all

Well last night proved tiring but productive. The house is tidy and the clothes are all washed, food in the cupboards. Went to Tesco with DD and she found some bargains without realising - she's only 4! It's cos she is small so sees the bottom shelves first where they put the cheaper items - she's also quicker than me so gets there sooner lol.

Only spend £50 ish so on budget.

Then sorted everything in the kitchen i needed to including 1 draw that has been used as a dumping ground so feel pleased about that. Going home on lunch to empty DW and put last lot of dryin out. Also need to bag shoes that require re heeling to take to cobbler and drop them off at some point.

I need my house to be organised again and slowly getting there. Still haven't listed on ebay - am considering taking them to the nearly new shop who buy things off you.

So tonight once kids are in bed i am going to clean the kitchen and front room, tomorrow cleaning the bathroom or may leave til Fri as ppl are coming Sat and want it sparkling. Lol. Also I have the dining room table to make up as it's currently naked and will suffer if the kids get their hands on it (we eat at breakfast table in kitchen but gonna be posh on Sat). Ironing needs to fit in there somewhere too. That should be everythiing then I will feel like I can relax when they are round on Sat and not worrying about house being a mess etc. Will 2 kids and a huge dog it's difficult to keep it looking cleanand tidy all the time, with working FT I mean too.

OK so on the money front - good news, the expenses are in :) So i am now rich, all £228 rich. I've put petrol in and got food with yesterday's money and will repay the £50 I owe. Also I owe the meat money £15 so will pay that. That's me paid up to date so sitting tight for a while now and having as many NSD's as possible to make an overpayment to loan just before pay day with what i have left.

Regarding that - should i pay what i can every month or save up for a few months and pay lump sum? Or will I be tempted to spend it? I worry about when i am DF that i will slip back into my old ways. how do you all plan on coping when DF and not slipping again?

  • Right, had a quick tally up. On average, I pay £650 a month to debt. Some months up to £800 some months less. So I've snowballed using £650 a month and done it using the current APR's. This gave me final payment month of Sept 14. My current target is Mar 14 as I plan on getting 0% BT once I have cleared some more debt. As you know, I can't get one at present due to amount of credit i have. Wish they'd turned me down years ago!!! Ironic.

I have target payments for loan each month as that's the highest APR and although i won't be able to meet the first one I should be able to meet the rest. The snowball didn't start until Nov anyway so gives me chance to save a bit to see if I can meet the first one.

Plan is to pay 650 a month to debt, which includes overpayments that will go to loan until cleared. Goal for loan DFD is Nov 2012. Hoping for October!

  • I've updated my sig to show LBM and balance now, how much interest paid this year and acheivements so far. This should keep me going for remembering what I want (no interest or debt) and remembering what I've acheived.

I want to be deft free. Now.

  • Oh me too, but 25k to go. You are doing phenomenally well.

You know what I am going to do to stop me slipping, is to treat things im saving for as debt. Save for them and overpay them. and just keep on with the same amount of money i have now...
