i was thinking similar - i think i will worry about going back into debt whereas i want to enjoy not being in it. I found a thread on it in the DFW area which was good reading.
Will you ever get credit again? Say for a house extension type credit - ie will take years to save for - that's the dilemma I have as we said we'd get an extension in few years but not sure how to go about it.

That's my kind of thinking too. Something I can get my money back on as well opposed to car losing value or material items losing all value.

Thanks beccie
Well morning all. I am feeling quite positive today. I am going for a NSD as there's no way i will shift this debt if I keep spending - all be it silly little amounts but it all adds up. Happen to have left purse at home (accidentally) so that's a bonus lol. I have a banana and yoghurt to see me through until lunch time so should be ok (had no breakkie). Then nipping home at lunch for beans on toast or eggs on toast (courtesy of our chicks) for cheap hot lunch. I work close to home so not much petrol used and need the break come lunch time. Once we move to the new office in Jan I doubt I will go home over lunch as it's a tad further.
Talking last night about living the dream again, another thing i can't consider until I'm DF. We've said we'll wait til DS in school so i have until then which works well with my current target date as he starts in the september of same year. That gives me 6 months to build money up and credit to be ok (I have a high credit score but owe to much so lenders won't touch me, hopefully once it's reduced they will let me have new mortgage for the dream place).
So i guess I need to see how I can overpay this loan then - will call them up today and pay £50. I said i was going to wait but I am impatient. I need this debt gone!!
The frustrating thing with overpaying the loan is I can't actually pay the pennies off like I have been previously to CC's. So the sooner it's gone, the sooner I can pay the pennies back off instead of just putting them into a pot.

Well thats good, have you got a little savings account attached to your bank account and you can save in there, and pay little lumps off as and when?
Or can you ask them for their bank details and the load reference number and just make payments as and when??Trying to shift that debt!0 -
I asked before for their online details and she didn't know if you could do it that way so i tried to send £1 to the loan account number and it didn't work so will ask them againw hen I phone up to overpay.
I have an esavings account so can save online but I daren't in case i spend it although it'd be a good test for me.....
I need to be "cured" for when DF - I need to be able to have money and not spend it.

Hi Hun,
The way I made overpayments was to ring the loan company...they give you their sort code and bank account number. Then you ring your bank who add it to your list of bill payments. When you over pay you put your account number in the reference number box.
I have found that you have to be very strict with yourself if you leave money in an account which you could potentially spend. I have a Next account which is £0 and I pay it off every time I buy something, strangley I get quite excited that I do it!!! Am I sad? lol.
