Hi DebtFree2012, just been catching up. You are doing ever so well. I am worried too about slipping into old ways. the nearer I'm getting to DFD the more panicky I feel. I thought I should be feeling good

It's funny you say that as I've even heard a few ppl say becomnig DF has been a bit deflating!!!! I hope not!!
I am testing myself with savings now. I've put them in the online saving account which I have to have a pinsentry (security thing) to log into so it's a pain. All to deter me!!
I've got a date for DS's chirstening now so need to oragnise and pay for that on a budget!!! Thing is I'd do it all myself but I did for DD then didn't enjoy the day as was too busy getting everything sorted and cooking the food.
need to get quotes and decide. Cake is £35 and outfit is £35 delivered so I thought that was ok?

Morning All
Monday again? When did that happen!!!!! Weekends are far too short.
Right over this weekend, seen as I haven't been able to overpay anything or do much I've been thinking about how this jpurney has changed me. Although I often worry I will go back to my old ways I am probably being a bit harsh on myself. I never used to be aware of how much anything cost, didn't question prices, would pay without looking at the bill, never shopped around, paid for the most expensive option as it "would be the best quality" oooh how times have changed.
When I started my journey it was a constant battle - i used to think I can't wait until this is over so i can spend again or so i can buy the proper stuff again. I am ashamed at how I used to be! I had no respect for money, mine or anyone elses!!! Let's face it - what i was spending wasn't actually mine otherwise i wouldn't be in this mess!!!!
A big thing that's changed is my grocery bill's more than halved. I've found a happy medium now and it's took a while to get there. There are some things that I buy value for example that i didn't ever think i'd get. i used to be a value snob! However this weekend I had some extra cash with me which would have allowed me to buy the branded food options however that cash is still in my purse and I got the value as I was thinking to myself, do I actually prefer the branded? Truth be told, no i don't. So this journey is also teaching me to buy economically and find out what we actually prefer opposed to what i think we should have.
So this w/e I have been looking at things as I use them and deciding if there's anything I would change when i am DF. Truth is there's be a few treats in there - like DH loves the posh cheese you can get. when you have cheese on toast you can really tell the difference but at the moment I don't buy it and now he's seen the price he won't LOL. However I wouldn't stop buying value, would just add the posh one in as treat.
I've also been thinking about the first few months of being DF. As I will become DF on a pay day that means i will not feel the benefit until the following pay day so it will give me something to plan for in the first month of being DF but skint! I definitely need a new washing machine and would like a better steam mop as i wouldn't be without mine but it isn't built to last and by March 2014 I would like to upgrade....do you see a theme here LOL.
More importantly I am going to take my parents out for a meal to say thank you for everything they've ever done for me! Dramatic i know but even though they don't know i am in debt, they support me non stop and look after my kids so I can work (alternate with MIL) and always treat the kids and me! I am very lucky to have them and wish I could do it now but i know they won't hear of it. I am going to pre pay for a meal, book a taxi for them and get a bottle of champers!
Also the same for DH as he currently pays for everything extra. Then I will save up for a holiday in 6 weeks / October half term - whichever can save for first and i will pay for it. The following year will be to a holiday village abroad but they cost too much to go on first year.
I will also need a new car in there somewhere as mine is wanting to retire now but begging her for another couple of years at least!
Thoughts like these may the journey worth it and bearable in those moments when you want to plant your head into a wall

Morning all
I thought today was going to be a NSD but not looking like itI have to collect my re heeled shoes/boots from cobblers so that'll be £7. Also need petrol but will maybe do that today so tomorrow is a NSD. I've remembered my yoghurt and banana for breakfast so no buying from work
Then home for lunch via cobbler's / petrol so no buying there and tea's been made so just needs warming up for everyone.
Going to check accounts and see if I've won the lottery or anything

This journey is swings and roundabouts what weneed to remember is that each bit is important. Save for what you want, and treat it as a debt to keep you disciplined.
You are getting there the end is in sight!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
OK so check out what you have done today!
Got boots from cobblers....instead of buying new ones, brought brekkie in from home and you have made your lunch and tea.
If you had bought new shoes, bought breakfast and lunch from work and a takeaway for tea you would have spent a fortune in one day. So well done you, you should feel proud!
