    Another week!

Had a lovely weekend in between DD acting up - least said soonest mended there.

Managed to batch cook a few things including soup for lunch for this week for me, tea for tonight, joint of ham in coke and some scones. All recipes from MSE bar the soup which is a WW one. The scones were lemonade scones which I am unhappy to say were crap :( ham in coke took a while but still prefer the ham in honey that I do which is also much quicker and cheaper. However it was all nice and will be used. I just need to figure out what to do with plain scones - maybe add currants and cover with custard?

On the MSE front - I bought a mini notebook for 50p which fits perfectly in my bag and have started keeping a list of everything I spend. It'll help me focus more when spending.

Off to check my accounts now.

I started doing this, and then I started to actually log all my spending here and it works so well because you can categorise your spending (so food shopping, petrol, kids activities, clothes, treats, etc) and look across a week or a month at how much you've spent and in what areas. I found that simply writing it down wasn't impacting enough. Seeing the total amount spent in October shocked me!!!!

  • Hi Hun,
Spends diaries are great...I also categorise everything when I tot it up at the end of the month. You can see exactly where your over spend is and if you spend a lot regularly on the same thing and you didn't realise then you create a pot for it to save into monthly...eventually if you are anything like me you will have about 10 saving pots which cover everything.

I just hope I keep it up until Friday!!!!

Then a new cooking session at the weekend for next week. Bring it on. I may even loose a few pounds while I am at it!!!!

    :)

I've just been looking through figures for Christmas and it's going to be tighter than a you know what. I am doing Sunday lunch too so need to be extra vigilant.

Remembering it's DS's christening on 4th Nov so I need to get the food for that too. DH is taking care of the alcohol. Right - !!!!! in gear this week. In fact....I may make soup for some of the food fod christening - it's a spice WW one which tastes yummy (as mentioned!) and is sweet potatoes, butternut squash, lentils and onions with chilli to taste......I was worried what to do for veggies as there will be a couple of non meat eaters there so that may be great - LO's will freeze.

Also a big pork joint and maybe a beek joint with stuffings and sauces along with breadbuns and gravy. Thinking I may do roasties to go as side?

Ooops - side tracked....anyway - point is I am skint as ususal :D
