  • Well last night's slow cooker was pork joint in alcoholic ginger beer. That will do for kids tea tonight as we're going out for DH birthday, then our tea tomorrow and sarnoes for rest of week with different things in so not the same thing daily.

The joint had been there a while and needed using. I also have 7 frozen chickens to keep us going :) not the ones in my garden!!!

Right on the money front I have paid the final BIG cc payment for the month (I wish that read final payment full stop!) so only the car imsurance which is due at the end of the month is left. I will be paying for our meal tonight and then I need petrol and groceries to see us through. I have £150 to do this! The meal will be £50 ish and petrol should be apx £50. Food £15 ish on Sunday's of which there will be 2 and I need to pay for breakfast club which is £15. So £145 which is cutting it a bit fine for my liking.

Hopefully DH is giving me the Xmas money today so worst case scenario is I have to use a few quid from that.

    Things just don't change!

  • Yum with the chickens, we discovered a fabulous slow roast chicken recipie and have adapted it at times but its a real brilliant weekend meal. Have a lovely meal out and it sounds like everthing is on track for you this month, if a little tight x

  • I was looking at my online message where from this time last year and what a position I was in. I was on maternity leave and struggling but wanted to wait until the new year to return to work. I sent msgs to the CC companies asking if I could have payment holiday or such like (to which they said no!) as I couldn't afford the payments. I missed 2 payments over 2 months - 4 in total and paid them back with January's pay. It's been 10 months nearly without missing a payment and being a good girl but it's making me realise that although I say things don't change, they have. Fair enough I have no money, but I also don't have people phoning me 24/7, sending me nasty letters, demanding cash yesterday and so on. So I suppose I am a lot better off than 12 months ago.

That said, this time next year I wonder where I will be.

I've looked at the online menu and they do a couple of meals for £11 such as lasagne and scampi of which I like both so will order something like that. I would get a steak normally but it's gonna cost even more so will compromise. It's my birthday next month so I will have one then :)

Also for the rest of this month I need to batten down the hatches - instead of going out on a lunch time I will stay in 4 days a week at work BOOO and go out one day for Xmas shopping stuff - I have a longer lunch on a Friday so will go out then. There's cheap shops locally to get presents in so will go there.

    Morning all

Early morning today but went ok. The office is BOILING and I can feel a headache coming on al ready - when it's mild they put the heating on but when it was frosty the other day they didn't!

So last night didn't happen - DH didn't want to go for a meal in the end so we had a take away which ended up costing £15 so I saved £35. That's they way I am looking at it rather than thinking he is grumpy old man who wanted to play on his computer! His birthday so he can do what he wans and I will smile and carry on. My birthday next so you can guarentee I won't be cancelling my meal!!

So I have £35 to stash away for the emergency fund for the month given that it was so tight anyway.

Need to check accounts and see what's happened that I didn't plan for.

Thanks skint - I don't do well ini stuffy offices and suffer from sinus related problems from it so literally does my head in! I had the window wide open and it's ok now (although everyone else is freezing LOL).

I've checked my accounts and all is on track thankfully. I'll stash the money in an envelope in my bedside table so it's there in case i need it towards month end.

I had more of the HM soup and it still tastes as good although should think about freezing it now before it gets past it.

Had a letter from last remaining PPI claim (all others had excuses and said nope) to say they need more time. I hope this means to work out how much they are going to repay me by :) although to be honest I doubt it very much.

Hopefully DH is going to the bank today to get his share of the christmas money out - cash in my hand!!!! I shall feel rich for a night.

I like it being delivered! Saves me going out shopping.

  • Morning peeps

Well Friday didn't happen as was poorly :( DD been up every night since then, also poorly - DS starting with it and I look like sh*t. That's summed the last few days up so on to brighter things.

Today I will put the Christmas cash into the bank then I can order the gifts that I need to. I am using skint's idea and where appropriate will be buying online and via quidco. I'll order DD main present today and need to research DS's main present for cheapest place to get it then will follow suit with that.

Balances are balanced and CC payments are processed so we're at that awful time of the month now. There's the car insurance left to pay which reminds me, it's due and I have things to sort out there. Will add it to the list.

Hope everyone's having a financially good start to the week!

Loads to do so off to do it (works stuff, bleugh)
