  • BTW - fish fingers are a treat for the kids - they don't eat like that every night :D I know there are ppl on other threads that jump on you should you not ensure your perfect 5 a day etc etc for your kids. ;)

  • I need some ideas guys.

On a morning I buy a scone from work for 50p and they are nice but obviously fattening and when I am watching what I eat I'd prefer that to mean lower fat intake than visually watch it go into my mouth!

Any ideas for replacement? Not chocolate or sweet things though - not before lunch. Hmmm.

  • Banana sandwiches?

Oh kids like fish fingers and your treat night sounds brilliant.

Some people on some threads are holier than thou.

For the first time in three months I am buying lunch in town. But hey.

Like I say to everyone, its about BALANCE and living, if I cant do that I would just me so unhappy.

I could JUST fight debt, but I CHOOSE holidays too. It doesnt make me bad, I just need respite. We all do!

Enjoy the pamper night and as for fish fingers, the kids will remember fish finger night forever, but when you slave over a scratch meal they wont. haha.
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Do you know that is so blooming true! DD talks about fish finger wednesday but never about the Sunday lunches I take ages to prepare.

She also remembers the pizza and popcorn nights bless her. I will incorporate more into the meal plan.

Everything is about balance, exactly that. Food, money, emotions, work, life. I tend to tip the scales but find the balance eventually.

No one knows what is round the corner, we may not be here tomorrow so enjoy today for what it is and do not live a miserable life becoming DF as if it was taken away from you the day you reached DF then it would not have been worth any of it.

    Whoops, preaching over.

  • I agree.

We will get there but not at the expense of everything else.

  • Hey DF,

To replace your scone for a snack....how about a cereal bar? I get Special K bars in a 12 pack...around £4.50 (when not on offer), so works out 37p a bar.

    Enjoy your pamper night.

  • Forgot to add, pamper night is also about using all my old products which were bought and added to my debt amongst a million other things. So last week when I did the pamper night - I got a face mask out, tried to squueze it out of the bottle and it was rock hard - solidified! When I thought about it, it's been years since I bought it - what a waste!

This is all learning - I don't buy products on a whim any more, haven't for a long time and making sure I use all of the ones I have first.

Running out of face cream so will go on the hunt for more tonight - there will be some somewhere!!!!

  • Homemade flapjack has to be good.

  • Snack wise Tesco do cereal bars in their Lighter Choices range which are about £1.30 for 6 (I think!) I buy them for DH to have in his lunch, they seem to keep his sweet tooth and his waistline happy!

The talk about balance is ringing bells with me and making me think that maybe my DH's approach to finances is better then mine....mmm....more food for thought!!
