  • Oh dear, don't beat yourself up about the dishes, you needed to relax by the sounds of it. Just stick them in the sink to soak and they won't take long when you get back in tonight. No one else will know they have been there all day so no such rule that they can't be. Have a good day. I'll try get those recipes posted up for you later.

  • Thanks hun!

I always find when the house is upside down people come round lol. I hate feeling unprepared, it's an OCD of mine I am sure - like checking my accounts :)

  • Oooh I made a frittata last night which I know is easy but the point is I never made one before lol. We have far too many eggs as the chicks are on fire, not literally as that'd be roast chicken. So i used 8 eggs to make it with peppers, onions, prawns and a topping of sprinkled cheese. Was lovely!!! Will definitely be making one again, prob with spicy sausage for the extra kick.

I am getting back into my proper home cooking again as I seemed to have gone for easy, same every week options lately - they are always home cooked but I haven't had that feeling where you're providing a home cooked meal for a while - (I know fritatta's not exactly a meal but you get my point).

I love the Sunday lunch feeling - feels very cosy.

  • Aww bless, you're lucky DS goes when you tell him lol.

Its one of the best bits about him being 11 :rotfl:

Frittata sounds good! Have you got a receipe? DH went egg mad and bought a pack of 15 to make one cake earlier this week and I can't bear the thought of having to chuck them away. Neither can I bear the idea of scrambled egg on toast for tea...again lol!

Try not to focus on the dishes, I had exactly the same OCD thing before this pregnancy which was fine until my bump got so enormous I can't reach the sink anymore! Have had to get used to dishes sitting there  because DH is starting to rebel against my nagging lol!
  • I had that lovely 'homecooked' feeling yesterday till we sat down to eat and my bubble burst :rotfl: I'd spent a huge chunk of afternoon making pasta and rolling it out into lasagne sheets. Then assembled a roast squash and fennel lasagne from Hugh's new veg book. I absolutely loved it and was eating contendly when one by one the comments came, where's the meat? I don't think I like fennel, squash isn't my favourite thing, etc. etc. absolutely no appreciation for the effort involved!

DD16 is cooking tonight, I'm having the night off!!!

    Your frittata sounds lovely :D

  • I have Hugh Fearnley whatsits family cook book and there's a lovely looking on in there which I adapted (as always!) All I did last night was cook everything but the eggs as you would normally, fry in my case till all piping hot - have 8 eggs beaten then put the cooked ingredients into the eggs and give a good mix, knob of buter (for extra taste) into the frying pan then add the eggs and things in them - cook on low heat for apx 10 mins and then put grated cheese (he said goats but I just had cheddar) over the top and grill for further 5 mins or so. It should be set all the way through them but depends on pan and so on. Slide it off onto plate and cut like a pie or such like.

Som have pre cooked new potatoes in but we didn't have any and this was filling by itself.

    Mmmmmmmmmm hungry now x

  • Oooh I hate those comments...actually my lot have stopped saying them cos they get their head's bitten off lol!!!! It sounds yum!!

I am hoping to go to one of Hugh's events next year, maybe the Summer fair or something. A very long way for us though so would be a road trip.

What's your 16 yr old making then?
