I feel exactly the same Kat. So much so that when I do have money I wonder how it'll feel.....In fact, it's a touch worrying!

Thank you for the congrats :)

I plan on keeping my head down and doing a good job as I feel lucky to have what I have esp in this climate as you say. So onwards and upwards.

I think once I have cleared the debt (feels like never sometimes!) that I will try to get 3 months wages in a savings pot in case the worst happens.

    Hi Al

Well I got a letter from virgin saying they were changing how payments were made which I should have taken more notice of. I thought it meant if you'd got cash advance or bought purchases that interest would be allocated differently. Mine is all a balance transfer so I ignored it. Only to finally get my account unlocked and try to log in to see that my minimum payments have gone up by £70 a month. So there's the pay rise gone.

Initially my heart stopped but then I realised that I was wanting to pay more anyway so this was forcing me to do it so in the long run I guess it's a good thing but the worry is that if I can't afford it one month what will I do.

So I have had to revisit the old spreadsheet and need to have the cheapest menu plan ever for the coming weeks and months. Will have to work on that soon.

I bet you had a bit of a cold sweat for a moment DF, I hate that feeling!

Your right though, it will force you to pay back more and get rid of Virgin that much quicker. That was the card you were concentrating on anyway wasn't it?

Well done on the payrise, but shame it's been spent for you.
My MBNA card minimum payment has just gone up from £40 to £82 a month . Luckily I read the letter and have budgetted for it, but as you say, something else has to give.

I am annoyed that i didn't think to myself to understand the letter in case this happened. At least I can "afford" it based on wage rise but if it happens again and the others follow suit or they change to higher % of balance then I, as will lots of people, will be screwed!

How are you? Haven't seen you around in a while.

Unfortunately I think most of the cards are changing. Apparently it's for are own good, as we'll be paying them off quicker. Personally I think people should be able to opt out, but I can't see it happening.

I've still been plodding along and debt-busting. Unfortunately things haven't been great in RL. We found out a few weeks ago that my mum has cancer, then we were told that she only has months rather than years left. So I went off the rails a bit, drinking too much, smoked 3 fags :o.

But mum's making the most of the time she has left (she's decided against chemo). So I need to be there for her and for my kids. So I've knuckled back down - no drinking, definately no smoking, back on the SW diet, and focussed on debt busting. I want mum to be proud of me, rather than seeing me push my self destruct button.

Aw hun I am so sorry. We lost my brother in law, not to cancer, but in a bike accident, 8 months ago and I can't explain what we're going and have been through, we were so close - I can understand your pain. While I am on here I'm in my own little world which helps. While your mum is here make every second count - what you say is so true - see your mum proud of you, not upset that you're upset. Be strong for her. I feel for you, I really do.

Why are they making these changes DF, you are making me freak out now! Can you refuse to accept the change by closing the account?
