  • just checked 2 receipts and got £0.64 and £6.57 . Bought 3 bottles of wine for £10 and got them effectively for just under £3 with the vouchers.
have another 3 receipts to check tomorrow morning. There seems to be a beter chance of winning here than scratch cards.
  • I have shopped in Tesco for years and while I have valued their reward scheme but im starting to think that this isnt everything, especially since they have cut their x4 to x3!

I have heard that Asda is cheaper overall but am not 100% convinced. I know they do a 10% cheaper or your money back, but what do you all think?

I'm trying to decide the same thing myself... have used Tesco for a few years, but Asda now deliver in my area as well. Only tried Asda once so far, and they did have some good offers but I'm yet to be convinced.

Asda own brands may be a few pennies cheaper.... but IMO they taste LOADS cheaper.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
  • Aaahhh, now if we are talking about value/basics/smartprice then I choose Sainsburys every time. About the same prices as Tesco and Asda but their Basics range (on the whole, with a couple of exceptions) IMO negates the need for buying 'own brand' and certainly branded stuff. Thus saving money but not something that mysupermarket would show as that would compare 'like with like', IYSWIM.
  • Hi
how do i get a voucher asda says it will refund the difference even if they are cheaper, well i have entered my till details and this is what comes back

    Tesco Sainsbury's Morrisons Waitrose
    +£6.98 +£13.14 +£7.71 +£16.62
View details View details View details View details
The comparison carried out by mySupermarket found that yet again ASDA, the winner of Britain's Lowest Priced Supermarket Award for 13 years running, has given you the lowest price shopping, and can save you up to £864.24 a year

but i cant see any option to print a voucher ??? or havei got it wrong

    cheers

Asda is definitely cheaper. You may find the odd offer in Tesco cheaper but overall the is no chance in hell Tesco will be cheaper.

I shop at Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's - very rarely Tesco. Their stores have a really cheap styling to them as well, no soul.

Well I can't say I shop at Tesco because of the reward scheme as it really doesn't influence me, but the change isn't as bad as it seems at first sight.

For example, if you were after a reward voucher to the value of £12, in the past you would have needed £3 in vouchers and now you would need £4.
However, to obtain the £3 voucher you would need to have spent £300. As they have now changed the reward scheme to double points though, you will now 'only' need to have spent £200 to obtain your £4 voucher, so in effect in the example given, you will now need to spend £100 less to obtain the same reward.:)

I dont think any of them are cheaper I think it all depends on what you are buying. I put my items into mysupermarket which compares the big 4 and asda rarely comes up cheaper for me! It is usually Tesco, but this week its Sainsburys! I dont do a full shop anywhere, I find out who has what I want cheapest and buy there and stock up on offers, luckily I have all within a short distance, except waitrose who are never cheaper. I have my list split into 4 as I also get stuff from other places like Morrisons or Iceland as well. I dont believe any of the advertising as I have got the cash back from Asda a couple of times in the past. I tried the new 10% cashback recently and strangely they only compared at most half the shop with the others, when I know most of the items are available there, so obviously they are going to come up cheaper if they are only comparing a few items.

    Watch the asda ads.

It regularly tells you according to independent price checker, mysupermarket.co.uk, just how many items are cheaper at Asda ... and to be fair how many items are cheaper at Tesco (and some other supermarkets).

Unfortunately the ads do not tell you what the individual items are that are cheaper in one store compared to the other, so you have to visit the price checking website to find out.
