Seriously sour grapes from Tesco - they know they can't compete with ASDA on price and, in my experience, the guarantee does include most of the thing they claim it doesn't, so who is being misleading? I have no problem at all with the claim process, other than the occasional time when the website doesn't respond properly - it takes less than a minute.

They do have a legitimite argument, they offer clubcard points, asda dont check all items and dont tell you which they compare and tesco tesco may be better for special offers (so you would have to buy 3 items from asda and hopeit recognises 3 for 2 and is included in compare).

But everyone knows asda is cheaper and that article is rubbish, but will trick many people. But saying milk and bread isnt included is wrong, maybe unsliced fresh bread isnt included but normal bread is. Can you complain? I bet asda already have.

You have to remember that Asda isn't cheaper for everyone....For us it isn't and for others on this thread it isn't....

It does depend what you are shopping for and whether you are single, couple or family...

And it also depends on how you shop.

Someone who buys exactly the same products every week (i.e. the same brands) will probably find Asda is cheaper with the price guarantee taken into account.

Whereas someone (like myself) who buys things depending on what is on offer and which brand is cheaper, would need to shop around each week. I tend to find Tesco is cheaper for me and I prefer the local Tesco store to Asda (more selection and fewer chavs, which is actually quite surprising).

I'm not convinced that ASDA is cheaper. Having used the Pricematch guarantee for a while I believe that whilst ASDA do tend to have lower prices on some items, they don't tend to have as many promotions as some of the other supermarkets and the range of items they stock tends to be at the lower/cheaper end - For example, washing detergents tend to have only the smaller sizes of premium liquids and tablets but the larger sizes of the value big box powders etc. I noticed in my local ASDA that they don't stock much of the range from Ariel and Persil for example but have their own brand and value brands.

And nearly every price sticker has a rollback logo next to it, yet the prices seem to be the same as the other supermarkets. What exactly are they rolling the prices back to? 2011 prices?

One of my major gripes with the "price guarantee" and "Asda are the cheapest" things is size differences.

Bernard Matthews Turkey Drummers come in packs of 4 at Asda (227g) for £1.00 or 2 for £1.50
In Tesco, you get 6 (340g) for £1.00

This simply won't come up on the comparison. Even with the multibuy, Asda are still more expensive per 100g but they'll just tell you the product isn't comparable.

Thanks for the reminder.... just saw this thread and thought oh I haven't done my receipt... got got a voucher for £1.44, Asda weren't 10% cheaper than Morrisons!!

Better than nothing!!

Yes puddings..totally agree.

I think it's swings & roundabouts, depends what you buy etc etc. I've just done an online shop at Tesco's & yes, admitedly, have taken advantage of a few of the offers..it's how I generally shop, but there were quite a few other bits in there too. It still came to about £14 less than Asda, Sainbury's next & then Ocado was pushing £30 dearer. All this on a shop of about £42
