four can pack of Branson Beans are currently in Asda for £1.00
I have stocked up on these alsoTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
However it was interesting to see that Waitrose was only 60p more expensive and is infinitely closer to me. I was suprised as Waitrose always has the reputation of being an expensive shop.
Waitrose has changed as a retailer. Even though they still offer good quality, higher priced products, they are also offering normal products, like bleach, toilet roll, cereal at prices that are just as competitive as Sainsbury's, Tesco, etc. (sometimes cheaper!)0 -
my voucher was only for £4.58 everyone was looking because they sent for the manager so i said loudly well everyone should check their recipt tomorrow might total up to a few hundrad pounds0

In my local Morrisons, the self service machines are so slow. I find myself scanning and waiting 10 seconds whilst the till catches up before I can scan the next item. People in the queue look on like you don't know what you are doing.
I prefer to use the self service tills to avoid contact with people (easier life, usually quicker). However, the self service tills are more of a stress! You often end up having to call a member of staff to override the transaction, plus the machine thinks I have a memory like a goldfish and keeps saying 'Please put the item in the bag' after every single scan - even when the item is already in the bag! The machines at my local Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco (all made by the same manufacturer) do not say this unless you haven't bagged an item.
Unfortunately, Morrisons is the nearest store to me on the way home (otherwise I'd go elsewhere as I don't like Morrisons generally). I have started to notice recently that lots of people who use the self service tills there don't pay for their goods. I don't know whether they simply forget to pay, get fed up or deliberately steal but I usually see 2 or 3 a week. Mind you, Morrisons only have one member of staff per 8 self service tills so they make it easy for people to steal.0 -
I noticed on the asda website that they are quoting some comments made by MSE forumites... Maybe naievely, I wasn't aware that anybody official from asda was [STRIKE]snooping[/STRIKE]browsing these threads, so all in all, I think its best if I go back and delete all my posts on the subject!

I have shopped in Tesco for years and while I have valued their reward scheme but im starting to think that this isnt everything, especially since they have cut their x4 to x3!
I have heard that Asda is cheaper overall but am not 100% convinced. I know they do a 10% cheaper or your money back, but what do you all think?0 -
Asda have been voted Cheapest Supermarket by The Grocer (industry bible) magazine for 13 years running. Tesco rely on 2 things:
1. Huge number of stores (I reckon a massive %tage of the GB population are within walking distance of a Tesco store).
2. Clubcard scheme. But, like you say, it's not as good as it once was and it was very rarely '4x value in deals' in the true sense of the word because you invariably paid top dollar prices on the deals.
Just my thoughts...0
