KC, I copied and pasted that paragraph from somewhere and now I cant find it but here is a link to something similar http://www.answers.com/topic/luddite
Thanks for that link Tricia. I studied the industrial revolution in history, which is where I came across a photo and a mention of this so I was intrigued. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Turns out that it is the normal thing in Austria :jSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Hooray to agent paying for lunch :T:T:T
As for the Luddites, I taught local social history for Adult Education - reckoned that I would research a year and repeat ad nauseum. Huh! The same students wanted to come back again and again and ended up dictating what they would study - it was great really and I learned a lot but not easy money. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm not really a local (only 30 years here) and the local newspaper actually called me a 'former Southerner' not long ago.:rotfl::eek::rotfl:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Tricia, the "former" bit is a huge compliment! And the local history thing sounds wonderful! Still loving the linkie you provided.
And very glad to hear the agent paid, Cheri!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
“The poor man is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a dream”
Harry Kemp quotes
And so today I woke up in a panic. This is the month that I have been kind of dreading as so many bills have to be paid out in respect of my dream. This means that I have no wriggle room whatsoever with my budget. Maybe that is an understatement - I have no budget with which to wriggle is more likely the case.
Panic ye not I said to myself, head in my little book of quotes I knew that there would be something that would inspire me and here it is. Leapt off the page so it did. I know that quotes don't put food on the table or pay for petrol etc but what I do believe is that they motivate me to pick myself up, stop worrying and start looking for solutions to any obstacles that are placed in my way.
So today I have printed off a little picture of my lovely new home and placed it onto the fridge with this quote above it. Then if I am feeling low I just need to remember that I have a dream so I will never be poor.
3 items placed on ebay this morning. Mr C on board for a car boot next week so lots of ferreting to be done in the (now half a ) room of doom.
I need to set myself a target of making enough money per week to see me through the month. Action Plan required- work out a very minimal weekly budget
- make a plan to earn that amount each week - one way or another
- make a table of daily amounts to place on the fridge to keep track
Pigs emptied - £23.50
Euros to be exchanged - 55
Paypal - £20
Meal last night - Mushroom strogonoff.
Mushrooms £1
Onion (1) 10p
Creme Fraiche (half pot)25p
Rice (one cup) 15p
paprika (one teaspoon) 2p
chilli powder (one teaspoon) 2p
Total = £1.54/2 = 77p each I am sure that I can get this down as there really was enough for 3 but Mr C eats huge portions.
