On the self scan check outs, I have had a message come up "I'm sorry, this item is not for sale" ! On a book that has been r&r'ed before in another store.

Sounds like another reason not to be posting misprices on here to me!

Did you question them as to why?

    Never heard of this before.
Oh, I've heard of it before...Tesco did this with the mispriced computers. It was to stop any more being sold at the wrong price. Rather than leave it up to the individual stores to read and react to HOST, HO fiddles with the central pricing database so that cashiers cannot sell the item. The items won't go through the tills.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Can understand that type of measure on computers and other big ticket stuff, but a book? Or a £15 game?

Is this a new tactic being employed by HO to thwart our fun?

It was a R.Dahl book, 3 weeks ago. Perhaps someone had already r+r'ed that book in that store before. The store I go to is a large extra one. Maybe they started doing that, a while ago, with previously r+r'ed items. It has never happened again since and I usually always use the self scan checkouts.

( except personal attention from CS, come back to me on that one if u want !!)

for a man that seems to be on the internet all round the clock, including around midnight last night claiming that the cs girl was with you (sure she was impressed with you sat at your screen) you seemed pretty excited to have actually met a real female.

Well, I sat reading WLFC's and Frequent's posts last night, and thought ... I'll have a crack at them mobile phones too ... ;)

Failed first attempt, as didn't realise the off was only on the Tesco Mobile phones and the one I'd picked up was a Virgin PEBL, so just got a refund anyway, said the wife didn't want it etc. :)

Failed second attempt, as didn't realise you had to buy anything else to make up the £40 (the phone cannot be counted in the £40, nor can tobacco and a few other bits), so no problem, got a refund anyway, as before ...

Third attempt ... went for a Nokia 6111 (Tesco Mobile) with about £41 worth of shopping I needed anyway .... BINGO Custoner Services weren't happy and said they hadn't overcharged me, they just hadn't taken the discount off..... ? ( I said eh? that's the same thing isn't it??!) .. she then went off for 10 minutes and come back and said that as I obviously knew the policy, I could have the phone AND a refund but I couldnt bring the phone back, for any reason, even if it were faulty etc ....? (Don't know if that can be right...?)

Fourth try .. (different store obviously).... got my £42 worth of shopping, and a Tesco Mobile Silver V3 ... again .. BINGO .... the woman on the till said she thought it should have knocked off £20 .. and that I should check with Customer Services.... Don't worry, I will I thought ;) ....

I plan on taking that one back in the morning ... armed with my offer leaflet etc (showing it should have been £59.97 and not £79.97!) .. I hope that's ok to do that like .....

Might have a look to see what else is on offer while I'm there too ...

    Thanks again ... :)

    well done mate

but don't forget to keep the receipt- just incase your phone is faulty

    Because

Your statutory rights are not affected

    isn't this game lovely?

I am actually thinking of hanging my boots up now though
