  • Has anyone tried the Fosters 2 for £6.30. It states it finished on the 14th but have not had time to check. It has been taken of the promotion shelf but the barker remains on the shelf in the isle.

Tempted to fill my trolley again with more Gnats p lol
We took on Mr T and we won:D

Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now

    I think it's been extended to 28/11

Can someone clarify if the tins of quality street are a current R&R possibility ?
there are out of date SELS showing a 2 for £9 offer, but some folks have hinted that they now scan at 2 for £10.
I know this has been mentioned in the other thread but i found the posts confusing.

In my local store there are hundreds of the big purple tins of QS, most with SELs removed, but I saw one out of date 2 for 9 sel really high up on one of the top shelves that run right along the side wall of the store.

    Are these R&R'able ?
    thanks

the two for £9 is for a smaller (slightly) sized tin than on the shelves now. I was gonna try this one out yesterday but after checking out the weights i gave it a miss as i've done a couple of r+rs in this store recently and didn't want to raise profile with a dodgy one

Yes. Got them yesterday. CS also removed the SEL for Celebrations so I guess these have also gone up to 2 for £10?

I didn't notice any difference in the tin sizes, it looks as if they have just changed the SELS for the same stock, from '2 for £9' to '2 for £10' (that's in the stores that are on the ball...).

I think anyone finding an old SEL should not have any problem with this R&R, the purple tins are a standard size (maybe the SEL has it wrong, wouldn't be the first time). I think the gold tins are a bit bigger, and were always 2 for £10, so avoid them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Appreciate that Tesco's is a massive corporation that can afford a few costs here and there, but I think that actively targetting a system that is put in place to protect the ''average'' consumer is rather parasitic..To me it rates around the same level as benefit fraud.
Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.

Say that you've actually mentioned this before to shelf fillers regarding some other item and been told - "oh that's alright love, the offer's been extended". The date therefore doesn't seem to make any sense - so it's not worth a customer paying attention to it then is it?

That of course is assuming that the customer could SEE the date, because it requires a magnifying glass for even someone with good eyesight to read. That's not CLEAR labelling as required by the law.

The policy says "In the unlikely event that we charge you more than the price shown on the shelf or on the product, we will give you your money back and you can keep the product. Your statutory rights are not affected." (Maybe someone can kindly confirm the current wording - since that was off of a pic taken last year.)
Anyway, it doesn't say "price shown on the shelf unless there's a date mentioned".

Presumably it is partly the laws against misleading pricing that Tesco is trying to guard against by providing the refund policy - such labels are definitely misleading and I think I read somewhere here that this has been upheld by Trading Standards - or if it hasn't it will probably be soon. Basically you're doing Tesco a favour by cleaning up their act.

Tell them you don't even KNOW what today's date is! Also that you didn't realise it was a requirement to know the date before going shopping!

thanks for that MarineBoy, and thanks for your follow-up TaxiPhil. I was posting with reference to a failed R&R attempt in the past, she just would not budge even though I mentioned that there is no mention of the date in the policy.

In hindsight I should have told her that that's not what the policy says on the blue board, and in addition to that it's breaking the law. I emailed a complaint to CS HQ about this, but got a response which I couldn't really make any sense of, it told me "Unfortunately this can only be resolved by the store as the receipt is required to verify the overcharge please return to the store with your receipt." which I dont understand what good it would do, seeing as I got a refund for the item and no free item...

This makes me want to do one of two things,a) complain further, b) try harder to hit Tesco for as many R&Rs as I can.

Protecting the average customer would be not overcharging nearly everyone in the first place!!!

    You can not be serious????

Are you as concerned by how many thousands they overcharge unsuspecting customers?

    They deserve everything they get.

I have in the past been into the same store 6 times in three days and come out with over £120 worth of meat. 3 whole days to put it right......no not Mr T, lets keep overcharging.

Its very easy to stop.............Mr T gets the prices correct, we go away.

    Patches.
