Tesco misprice discussion area part 13

I have used all of the Asda coupons, even the cake one, on the self scan in Tesco. Different responses from different SA.
One spotted the 3.89 one (they can open the machine and look at the voucher) I pleaded ignorance and said I just scanned and posted and hadn't taken any notice. She tried to put it through at 50p but couldn't adjust the machine so gave up and put it through at 3.89.
When I put two of the 4.50 ones through, the SA opened the machine and said that I couldn't use two of the same coupons in one transaction. Again pleaded ignorance. She then voided the coupon at 50p!! so I still had 4.00 reduction from the voucher she put back in my hand!!
Oh happy days..........0 -
I done some shopping and put it through self scan, it was just over a £10 I used 2 sainsburys vouchers for £1 each and the assistant shouted you can't use that many vouchers and she voided them, she was very rude and I'd had a bad day so I gave her all the shopping back and told her I didn't want it.0

Dont know if this has been covered already. (Am at work and dont have time to read all the thread and its a while since I have been on). Was in my local (Tescos that is) on Sunday and bought two bottles Bells Whiskey. Overcharged by £1 on each. When I sought R&R I was told and shown a (handwritten) sign stating that the bulk purchase limit on ANY item was one:eek: .
The result was that they would R&R one bottle but only give difference on other. When the manager was questioned he stated that on all goods tins of beans, bananas, loaves of bread etc etc they had the rigght to limit every customer to one of each. When I pointed out that I had been "allowed" to buy two botlles he said i must have slipped through the net!!
I asked if he could tell me how many customers had been limited to only one tin of beans or any other item he said that he had refused one customer who wanted to buy 168 tins of Celebrations and allowed him only one!!!! (and his nose didnt grow longer as he told me this. Honest)Nor did he flinch when i pointed out that it was a bulk purchase policy and was not a bulk refund policy. There seemed no consistency or logic in his arguement despite the many scenarios I put to him. He was either very stupid or pig-headed as the whole policy is clearly illogical. It was a clear case of towing the party line and enforcing it.
Is this a new trick to limit R&R as clearly they will never enforce the bulk purchase on beans etc. How can they have 3 for 2offers?
In the end I took R&R on one the difference and then a refund on the other. So actually ended a quid and a bottle of whiskey to the better.

chipup wrote:I agree with your comments on Swindon & Cirencester, nothing to be found (non-food) last weekend, although I thinks its just me. I went to Stockton on Tees yesterday on my travels and brought Stormbreaker for £13.97 with no poster to be found:mad: . Off to Leicester to take it back!!
Cirencester is either receiving a lot of R&R attention - or - have started to get their act together - or - have some Dude reading this site
Swindon - you're not trying hard enough! I picked up Stormbreaker there yesterday for my kid.
Here's a tip for poster mis-prices.
Often the poster with the mis-price is not close to the actual stack of DVDs -
So for Swindon - Stormbreaker is stacked to the far left of the DVD display - the poster is roughly in the middle.
The trick is to relocate the front-facing DVDs under the poster and replace these with copes of the mis-priced DVD.
Then after talking to CS accompany them to the DVD area and point out the mis-priced poster.
It's so simple - but it works almost every time.

(Bulk buying policy)
Hmm, how legal is this?
As I read it, by accepting payment from you they have formed a contract with you to buy/sell the items no matter what their stated policy on bulk buying is. The contract is formed at the point of sale and if they break their own policy then that part of any contract is null and void without affecting any other part of the contract (which includes their stated promises).
Hence, any manager or CS staff who point to the bulk buying policy can do so as much as they like but if they have sold you the goods it is entirely irrelevant.
I believe Trading Standards may be interested in this "bulk buying" policy.
*shrugs* Either way, the only way it is enforceable is if they stop you BEFORE buying the items.
Oh yes, and if you really want to have a laugh buy something very cheap, get behind a customer who is buying 2 cans of beans and when the sales assistant puts them through create a real fuss and tell everyone that the manager has told you that nobody is allowed to buy more than one of each item.0 -
went to my local yesterday evening, and picked up 2 legs of lamb SEL £6.68, charged £6.69kg. CS went off and returned to say that the customer services manager refused he refund as i had R&R couple of weeks ago on large quantity of meat and i was taking advantage of the policy. despite reading everyones posts and advice, it all went to pot at this point, as i asked for my receipt back and they couldnt find it, and refunded my shopping instead. They said they will be following this up with HO and demanded my name and details (again i panicked nd didnt give my real details). i feel such an idiot that they managed to get me flummoxed by losing my receipt, and have been kicking myself for not asking for the store manager or ringing HO there and then myself. now havent got anything to go on
any advice or should i just give them a wide berth for a while??0 -
leadhead wrote:Although the Dude may tell you I wasnt always like this.
I can concur that Leadhead was indeed on an almost out-of-control R&R frenzy when he first discovered the joys of R&R....
....but he's much more focused now-a-days - his posts are consistently worthy and he should be given due respect....
....kneel before His Leadness you horrible newbies and tremble

Joecool..
That bulk buy policy, not ipswich by any chance was it? (Copdock)
If so, they have been told by head office to take the sign down, if not, you should contact HO and make a complaint, the guy my OH spoke to at HO said "thats ridiculous" about a 1 item "bulk buy" policy.
Also you should have pointed at any one of the hundreds of people on their way out of the shop and told the manager to stop them, chances are they would have bought two of something!
Its bloody stupid that they think they can limit people to buying 1 item of something.
You should ask if thats in one transaction, if it is, go in and buy 50 sprouts one at a time (or something like that) then go get them all refunded at the CS desk!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Put it down to a bad experience and keep your head down there for a week or so, it happens to all of us.0
