Those bolds are creeping in again, aint they lead-y?
To be honest, I think thats a bit unfair on HO. Nothing to do with them.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Monster_Deals wrote:Probably not (if you have half a dozen items packed away in the poly bags is the average person going to remember what they have just scanned ?), all depends how interested the Checkout operator is.
I present the Uniball voucher to the Checkout operator first (after my shopping has been scanned) telling her this is for the pens I have just bought, distracts them from the second Vic Synex 50p voucher that scans at £3.98 as I am not buying any Vic Synex.
Somebody previously advised that you can scan the vouchers yourself at a self service checkout, but I have not tried this yet.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Oh, come on Conny. It's got everything to do with HO. Pretty much every problem at ground level can be traced back to the top, one way or another.
HO have been letting CS staff and managers get away with dodging the policy and treating customers badly for a very long time. Letting the stores get away with it is just as bad as encouraging it.
If store managers are given the discretion to dodge the policy in order to meet wastage/loss targets and cover up for their own sloppy housekeeping, they'll use (and sometimes abuse) that discretion to the absolute max. I've witnessed it time and time again, and so have many on here. HO could easily put a rocket up the backside of all its store managers if it wanted to, but it chooses not to.
A while ago someone on this thread (sorry I can't remember who) likened the scenario to the Enron affair, which I thought was an excellent analogy. In a nutshell, the pressure placed on managers to meet financial goals is far greater than the pressure to comply with rules and laws.
Just look at the daily tales of woe on here: customers all over the UK being refused R+Rs for so many crazy reasons; customers being accused of wrongdoing and treated with disdain. (Not all stores, I hasten to add, but certainly a large proportion of them). If HO really cared about the problem, the store managers would never, ever be allowed to behave the way they do.0 -

I think you'll find it quite rare these days to find the 'per kg' text missing from those labels - although I did find it happen once a few months back - that time a different manager STILL didn't accept the error, but quickly removed the offending label anyway and just scarpered! I didn't have it in me to fight back at the time...but I think I do now - and already have - in the way that we love best!
As an amusing and ironic twist, it is almost exactly a year now - and I have just recently picked up some of the very same 'freezer pack' Sirloin Steaks as I did last year, except that this time it was because they screwed up on the 'per kg' price. (I was worried when I took the action that it might reduce the scope for finding misprices - but oh, how wrong I was!)
In fact, I have sometimes gone out with a 'shopping list' - but more often than not I haven't actually used it. It has just been easier - and more fun - to check the meat products one by one and find a likely overcharge that might not 'come off at the till'. I think I have failed to find a misprice this way in only about 1 in 8 visits.
Even after my brash words I decided to take a step back today and didn't use the clubcard a couple of times. (What a wuss!)leadhead wrote:I think its far easier on the nerves and more rewarding to have a lesser profile and more higher priced RandRs.
I guess it's to do with wotsisname's (Maslow's) pyramid of needs - food being near the bottom - and so I suppose I take your point on board more now that the freezer is once again full. It's like my partner says to me - "don't go shopping when you're hungry!".The post you quote above was in reply to a post suggesting I was a thief, I believe.
Again, thanks leadhead for responding and putting me back on track somewhat. This too, shall pass.0 -

Understand what you mean Phil-y, just trying to give an alternative POV. I have never had any preasure from HO to do other than what the policy says.
Does that put me in a minority? Dunno. But does suggest it is not a corporate dictate.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Fair enough. And it's always interesting to hear your side of things, from the other side of the fence.
Even I have to admit that not all stores put up the barriers on high value R+Rs. I fondly recall an incident back in September during the Xbox goldrush, when we got an Xbox + GOTW from a store in Kent and the manager was absolutely delightful about the R+R. He shrugged his shoulders and laughed about it - "it's not my money and I don't mind in the slightest", he said with great humility. The following day we returned to the same store - the same POS was still up - and we did it all over again like Groundhog Day. The same manager was called down to authorise the R+R and he laughed about it even more than he had the day before, and even congratulated us. We thought about returning for a hat-trick the next day, but even taxiphil didn't have the brass for that.
It was textbook customer service. Actually, maybe that manager was you?!0 -

Is it possible to unlock a Tesco PAYG phone?0

Somebody was asking again about Asda vouchers. I haven't used the Asda specific ones as not sure if my local accepts them. The Uniball ones are an absolute gift - you don't need to buy the pens, T's will take one coupon anyway. I usually buy £8/£10 stuff - you need to buy enough so that you still have to pay a few pounds otherwise it looks odd ! ie Buy a bag of goods and end up paying nothing - even the dosiest checkout staff will smell a rat ! And even if they do notice and call for help then you haven't lost anything as you'll still get 50p off.ELITE 5:2
