AAAghhh, don't say that. I've been twice this week. I live opposite side of town and the traffics a nightmare (1 and half hour round trip - damn you Stairfoot roundabout).
Any tips - I've still to break my R&R duck0 -
Anyone know where they've relocated the scanner to in Leicester Beaumont Leys Extra? It's moved in the last couple of weeks.
Also somebody sort the one out in Rugby. I made 2 simpsosn dvd purchases which I've now got to return!!!0 -

Hi...Ive been away for a few days and hoped you might have got over this ....this is becoming down right boring....Ive reported this to "abuse".Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Aww!
Thanks for the concern guys!
Just got back in, had to go pick th OH up from work hence being so late back.
Well........
Meeting was half hour long, Store manager and security manager attended, I was asked to give my account of what happened, told them that I put it all in the letter I sent, didnt see the point in repeating it, was told that they had CCTV footage of me scanning stuff before going to the checkout and paying, I told them that I had only scanned stuff that didnt have a sticker on it, and the DVD I bought that day had a sticker on it so why should I scan it?
Security fella then tried turning my words around and said I had just admitted scanning the DVD before I paid, I said no that wasnt the case, the one I got had a label.
The manager then said something along the lines of "the chance of someone being overcharged is slim, the chances of someone being overcharged as much as you have are similar to the chance of winning the lottery" which I laughed at.
He then went on to say that they have thousands of people through the door every week and only a very tiny percentage ("0.000..." were his words!) that get overcharged.
I simply replied "Yeah thats the percentage that notice"
He then said that "people are a lot more pennywise than you think, most people check their receipts"
They then went back to the fact I had been seen scanning stuff before getting refunds and they had footage, I stopped short of asking them to prove it but totally denied doing it. I told them (again) that I had only used the scanner to check the prices of stuff that didnt have labels.
Now comes the interesting bit...
The Security bloke then went on to ask if I had a clubcard, and did I know that they can see what I've bought etc and how I've paid and if I've had refunds, I nearly said "yeah thats why I stopped using it" but thought better of it. (I did use the clubcard early on in there but pretty sure I hadnt used it on even half of my R&Rs there)
The manager then asked what else I had been overcharged on, when I said some meat the security guy said "yeah trays of steak" the manager asked wht happened and I explained the pack price was higher than the SEL by about a pound or so.
The manager then asked if he minded waiting while he popped into the next room to have a word with the security guy, they were gone about a minute or two, when they came back the manager said there was two ways he could act and he had decided to lift the ban and let me back into the store! :T
He then went on to say that if I was seen to be scanning stuff then getting refunds on overcharges he would have to review the situation.
The security guy then said he would brief all the other guards as to the situation and tell them the ban is lifted and I'm allowed back in. And he would update the security software...
SECURITY SOFTWARE?????
I asked what he meant, apparently they have a CCTV/Security system called "Sentinal" this apparently is a national system used by Tescos and... IS LINKED TO YOUR CLUBCARD!!!
I took this to mean they have some kind of face recognision and can then link it to you clubcard when you use it in another store. So if that store has linked me as a problem to my clubcard, as soon as I use my CC in another store it alerts the security staff!!!
Sorry the post is a bit longwinded, wanted to get as much as I could in!
So I can go back to shopping in there, and the way I took it, I can get R&R as long as I havent been seen to use the scanner beforehand!:TMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Well done Chris!!
Sounds like a productive meeting, if a bit hampered by the security guards unhelpfu comments "trays os steak" indeed. as if quantity matters! my parents often by trays of steak for bbqs, so what.
a tad worrying on the clubcard linked cctv though!!!
you've inspired me to write to TS regarding overcharging. im asking TS to not reveal to tesocs that it is me complaining, that seems reasonable right?:A Boots Tart :A0
