    :rotfl:

When I was having a problem with a refused R&R and groundless accusations on the latest phone f*** u*, I wrote a letter to Sir T, CC'd in Trading Standards, called Dundee and read it out to the CS.

Got passed onto three more people before they gave in.

Sure I posted the letter in some form, if anyone wants a copy PM me -might be tomorrow before I respond though as I clock off work in... 7 minutes (and counting)

    Cripes!

I've only been gone a couple of days and over 500 posts to read here......

....anything to do with an XBOX? ;)

Obviously I'm not on Tesco's side but this does look like a tenuous mis-price at best.

You can look at it 2 ways.

The R&Rer will say "The sign says save £20, but I only saved £17.97 - mis-price!"

The Tesco Dude will say "The XBOX bundle SEL is correct and that's what you paid - no mis-price!"

This is much different - in my opinion - from the last XBOX pollava - that was "save £20" and the £20 wasn't coming off the bundle.

For a moment - if you can - imagine you are a normal customer, with no knowledge of R&R....

......when you see a sign saying "save £20" and the £20 saving is nowhere to be seen on your receipt your reaction would be to complain.

......but when you see the current groovy displays the average Joe will see the price of £279.97 - buy and pay at this price - and walk away happy.

The average Joe will not say "I just bought this bundle and dispite the fact that I was charged the advertised price of £279.97 when I was loading the boot of my car I suddenly realised that the differnce between the bundle price and the separate selling prices of the console and game is in fact £17.97 and not £20 so I have been overcharged".

Do you see what I mean?

I think this is probably the most 'dangerous' mis-price that I have seen.

I cannot see Head Office budging an inch on this one - let's face it they put their hands up last time - but I really can't see them moving on this.

I would advise you to steer well clear....I think that this is potentially a one-way ticket to placing yourself on the Tesco radar - and possibly giving yourself big problems for future R&R opportunities - especially if you involve Head Office.

....but as always 'each to their own' - I guess it ain't over 'till Mr Gates sings....

Just a reminder that it's not the done thing to name names on this public forum - it's a different thing to ask for the name of the XBOX Dundee POC than it is to slag off said individual.

I remember when Kevin was regarded quite kindly by this forum during the first XBOX war of attrition :o

GPWM I will stay clear of this as there are plenty of bargains to be had in the future so dont cost yourself this chance by pursuing this 1 item

I do agree with the dude on the xbox bundle, its not as clear cut as the old one, however, the policy does state "if things dont add up" and in this case things dont.

I'm glad I got an Xbox before, not really got the cash to try it this time and kinda glad TBH, I do think this could be attracting a lot of attention to yourself!
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Good post Duder! Balanced as always, and as you and others have said, it's a long game. Sometimes I find myself giving in a little easily and then question myself, esp when I know I'm right, but then I want a lower profile on my usual stomping ground, if its an away game however, all hands to the pump. Well done to everybody who's got one though.

Incidentally is anyone familiar with the returns policy for sealed DVD's, can I get my dosh back?

Can I just re-iterate anyone being denied r&r on a misprice should make a complaint to the Advertising Standards Agency, Tesco are not in a position to withdraw r&r as long as they are screwing up and generating complaints to Trading Standards, this would be their only alternative option if pressured by the ASA but their very inneptitude denies them this, the only option open to them is to fulfill the r&r and comply with their promise.

  • On the way home from work tonight i tried to get the pink nokia (for the missus, of course :-) and bought a few items to qualify for the £20 off 40 discount.
Dizzy till operator didn't apply any discount, and so i thought i was in!
Three supervisors, a manager and a call to HO later and I'm told that the policy does not apply to operator error, but is only there for when there is a simple overcharge compared to what it says on the shelf label.
In this case, the till operator made an error, and it didn't count.
I restated the line about "if things don't add up" i don't know how many times but they would not budge.
Are HO getting tougher on this ?
Anyway, I got a refund, then queried another item on my receipt, stating my uncanny ability to memorize prices as i shop. You should have seen their faces when they realised that i had been overcharged on the XBOX star wars lego game and they had to refund me, as this was clearly an example of the very thing they were happy to explain to me in relation to why i couldn't get r&r on the phone. Sweet.
