  • Why did they take it? Did you not pay?

The police siezed my car due to having a revoked licence

I was waiting to recieve my new driving licence to collect the car, I was given until the 11th january by the pound to collect my car. They sent an email to the finance company on 31st (they are open everyday of the year) requesting collection of the car

I don't understand how your licence could have been revoked without you knowing? What reason did they give for it being revoked?

Good question, until this is answered, we are all in the dark.

Hi in 2006/2007 i was given 3 points and a fine, i was supposed to send the licence back which was at my parents address but forgot about it and only paid the fine. I have been stopped by the police in the last three years, had insurance all of the time and rented cars???

I take full responsibilty for this but feel this move with the finance company is unreasonable

Hi i do not owe them money, the finance company are saying that they were told to collect the car from the pound due to my vehicle not being insured. Although i did have insurance at the time of the seizure they are saying it eas void due to no licence

I believe that your insurance is invalid if you do not have a valid license so as part of your finance agreement to have valid insurance you have failed to do this and thus had your car taken by the company by default

A similar scenario was on one of the traffic police progs last week. A driver's licence had been revoked because they failed to return it for fixed penalty points to be applied some years previous. The op stated she was stopped previously for being in charge of a car with no tax / mot driven by a learner, possibly the reason.

    edit ...... I was right ;)

Salutary reminder to all those getting FP's

One of the conditions of the finance will be that the car is comprehensively insured. Is this the reason they hve given for the repossession?

In not so many words yes...

Finance company have said the police advised it was uninsured, even though i have been paying insurance on the car for the past 3 years 10 months, the police said that my insurance was void due to no licence.

It was revoked as I did not send my licence back to add on points in 2006/07

If I understand it then, you were driving without a licence or insurance and have not kept up with the payments?

    Is the car worth much?

driving without a licence ...unknowingly to myself..stupid error
yes i have kept up with payments the finance company said they can see i am a good customer

And thus having it revoked cancels out your insurance policy. as said above this means the finance company can take the car back as you have broke a condition of finance

OK, fair enough, then all of this is down to you I'm afraid, you cannot lay the blame anywhere else.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it is the reality of the situation.
