Tinned food has been known to be edible after decades. If the tin hasn't been punctured the contents will be fine.0

I used mncemeat yesterday. Use before end 2007. It was lovely, still very moist. But I just made a few pies, and tried one, to be sure before I poisoned anyone else.0

I had bought a jar of Jamie Oliver pesto and thought I had lost it - Just found it in a bag in the freezer (oops)
Can I just put this back in the larder until I need it ?? - it is sealed etc.
Thanks
Hi Bobs,
That sounds like something I'd do! If it's still frozen and it's done it no harm, I'd be inclined to keep it frozen until you need it.

Is it possible to roast a goose in 2 stages? We're spending Xmas day afternoon/evening at my in-laws and everyone is bringing a dish. I've decided to take a roast goose but don't want to cook all of it there. Is it possible to half cook it at home and finish it off there or should I cook it in advance and then take it over to them? would it taste as good as if if was fresh from the oven? They live about 30-40 minutes away?
Alternatively I'll cook the whole thing there.0 -
Personally I wouldnt half cook it.
Cook all of it at once, here or there, it really doesnt matter.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Cook it at home, be ready with lots of foil, and let it rest on your journey.0

I agree with floss2, that way you can strain all the fat into a bowl before you leave and keep it in the fridge for your roasties throughout the year.0

Just went to do some sausages for supper, and realised the date on them. They are good quality ones, and smell nice, but just worried if safe to eat?
I was going to do pigs in blankets tomorrow, but won't be able to now.0 -
Sausages are full of additives and stuff if they smell Ok use them, they are best before not lethal after...0
