    Thanks a mill ladies. :A

They smelt reasonably ok - once I get paranoid it can be hard to tell. And I know sometimes processed meat can discolour so just wasn't sure.

I have eaten them so fingers crossed there will be no ill effects! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • If your Pork Pies or Sausages are greyish meat then you have good quality ones with no added colourings. If they are pink, then they have probably had all manner of junk added to them.

Thanks Sally, it was two-tone; pink in the middle with greyish all around. But no dyes in it, which is reassuring! No ill effects so far! :)

Ive had some French Fancies as an "ornament" on my cake stand in the kitchen since 31/07/10 and they look/smell as good as the day I put them out. These products are built to last....

  • Hi oldstylers, need some advice please

Just been clearing out my big chest freeer and trying to get kitchen organised for batch cooking over the holidays.

Ive found about 7 full sized salmon right at the bottom of the freezer, and from what I can remember they must have been there for 2-3 years! They are shrinkwrapped and the freeer has never been off or not working. They're not covered in ice and look the same as when they went in!

Just wondered whether I should keep or bin, as it is fish?? They were from Lidl and have lovely seasoning on them so can almost taste them...but don't want to poison anyone!

Thanks in advance and hope tp be seeing more of you...

7 whole salmon - that's some going :) They won;t be dangerous to eat, but the flesh may not be as fresh tasting as it was 3 years ago ;)

We've had salmon chowder over the weekend made from a frozen salmon carcase, so don;t forget fish stock and soup.

I'll add this to the Food Safety thread later.

  • Thanks PP. Hubby used to work at Lidl and picked them up for a fiver each when they were on offer!

I think it will be Ok why not cook one and try it, seems a shame to throw them away.
