I've just made Tangy Pork with it - it was delicious and took about 10 minutes! Not with buns though, with potatoes and sweetcorn.
Ingredients (Feeds 2)- 30 g butter
- 30 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 15 ml lemon juice
- 10 g white sugar
- 0.3 g paprika
- 0.4 g salt
- 0.1 g cayenne pepper
- 115 g boneless pork, cooked and cubed
- 2 hamburger buns
Directions
Melt butter or margarine in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, sugar, paprika, salt and cayenne pepper. Mix together and bring mixture to a boil, stirring often. Add the cooked pork and let simmer just until pork is heated through. Divide into 2 equal portions onto the bottom of each hamburger bun.0 -
I would use it personally if it smelt fine, but reheat in a sauce/ gravy simmering for a few minutes to be on the safe side.0

I've just noticed that the cottage cheese I've opened today says on it 'use within 3 days of opening' whereas the use by date on the pot is 12 December.
It's a big pot and I won't be having any of it again now till Thursday.
I then had a quick look at a pot of creme fraiche and it says the same thing.
So the question. Do any of you stick to this guideline and not use it if you opened it more than 3 days ago?
Or - do any of you ignore this advice and eat it after 3 days of being open (but before the Use by date), and have you experienced food poisoning or any problem doing this ??0 -
I go by appearance and smell rather than dates, and haven't had any food poisoning.0

Ditto!
In fact, if it isn't mouldy I will probably eat it!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
So I wonder why it says to eat within 3 days of opening?0

To protect the manufacturers from any possible law suits IMO

Another who goes by the smell and mould test here!
I live on my own so things would never last if I stuck to the dates!

Another vote for completely ignoring the eat within 3 days bit, sniff and see. I have things open for ages in the fridge and in fact with yoghurt when I used to buy it (make it now so no dates) I often went several days over the date as yoghurt tends to be fine, just gets a little more sour, which I've always found fine for cooking with.0
