Yep me too, however if I am going to use it in several meals, I would just cut off the amount I need to reheat each time, rather than keep reheating the whole peice, as it would probably dry out or something.0

Hi All#
i have some tofu which has been hiding away in the fridge, and went out of date on the 24th april. I have never used it before so don't know how to know if it is off. Would you use it?

Hi,
I've got some beef mince that I thought went out of date today but it's "Use by" todays date and has gone brownDo I risk cooking it or not? I know you're supposed to be able to tell if it's gone off by smelling it but I can't tell or not

Hi Jet
i would give it a good sniff and go with your instinct. If it is use by today, I would imagine it is fine, but if you are in any doubt, I would bin it to be honest.
Can you cook up some and test it?
I'll add this to the food safety thread later
thanks

I would use it - can't afford to throw perfectly good food away.
If it doesn't smell "off" then it is fine - the brown appearance is something to do with the blood in the meat oxidising (summat like that, anyway)."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

It'll be fine, you can tell mince is off as it gives off a really rancid smell. I'd just cook it up and serve it.0

okidoki I'll give it a go
Thanks - I really don't want to throw it cos have already got plans for it :money:

It'll be fine.0 -
