    Dear all

baked brownies last night - yum! Small problem - when I went to take them out, realised I had stupidly had oven on at 125 instead of 150:mad: Left them in for another 10 minutes or so to try and counteract, but just wanted (hopefully) some reassurance before handing out because of having eggs in.

    Thanks!

I would've thought that as long as none of it was still actively gooey then they'd be fine. Remember that as a kid (and quite possibly as an adult) that you'd lick the bowl whilst mixing up cake batter which contains raw egg - never did us any harm :)

Wow! amazingly quick answers - thank you so much! And yes, cook's perks - I had a VERY brownie smeared face last night :)

I shall hand out and cross fingers!

You'd best check that no-one is pregnant/tell people that it may contain raw egg.

Given that when you boil/poach an egg it's in water bubbling away at a maximum temperature of 100C, cooking at 120C which is higher shouldn't be a problem. Also, given that the brownies are "done" they are cooked, a lower temperature only means it takes a bit longer. (to give you an idea - slow cookers work at about 75C and I (and most of the OS board ;) happily eat chicken done in there)

    It's only a game

but with a slow cooker it's the length of time the meat is at that temp which kills the bacteria. I don't suppose the brownies were cooking for hours...
