I've poached some fish for my toddler and I did way too much....can I pop in the fridge and then do something else with it?
I was think flaking and making fish cakes or putting in a fish pie? Is it safe to reuse fish?!
Personally I don't like fish so I'm not used to cooking it!MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Hi tootoo,
It's perfectly safe to re-use fish providing it's been cooled and chilled correctly. It can be a bit dry second time around so fish cakes or fish pie would be perfect to use it up for your little one. I would certainly go with one of those.
Once you've had more replies I'll add your thread to the main food safety thread.

I adore Fishcakes! Also, the fish could be added to seasoned rice with vegetables right at the end of cooking, like a paella. Or stirred into a creamy, dill sauce and served over pasta.0

Thank you!
I will try fishcakes.....I have a little bit of past its best bread left (purposely left out so I can make breadcrumbs for the freezer!).MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -

I have an unsmoked bacon joint in my fridge, still in its vacuum pack untouched with use by date of 9th may, would it be safe for me to cook it tomorrow (14th)? I Bought it Sunday and put it straight in the fridge when I got home where it has resided ever since. Normally fresh meat goes straight in the freezer or is cooked only this time I forgotCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I pretty much ignore the use by and best before dates on most cheeses, if it looks and smells okay then it gets eaten. Got a piece of parmasan in fridge that is now 2 weeks past its use by date (bought it reduced short dated) and it's still fine.Unofficial Debt Free Wannabee.
