I have just had a look in the dark recesses of my kitchen cupboards and have come across two tins of loose tea with an expiry date of 2003 and 2004.They look and smell fine.
I don't think that tea can go off,can it?I haven't tried it yet,but will do.
Can anyone enlighten me?Thanks.0 -
Hiya marmite.
I'm not a tea expert - I prefer coffee myself - but I think it can go stale if it's kept for too long. I guess you'd be able to smell if this had happened, but hopefully someone who knows what they're talking about will come along and confirm shortly.Back after a very long break!0 -
I think that the worse that will happen is it may lose some flavour.0

It won't harm you, but probably won't taste as good as it should.0

It won't be at its best and perhaps a bit stale, but it won't poison you. Try the taste test, one mouthful will quickly tell you if it's bin fodder..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I must admit, i wouldn't want to drink it. Perhaps for compost?0

Thanks for all your replies.I think I'll try it anyway and let my tastebuds decide....It might end up as compost.:o0

I've just had a cup of each tea ( Vintage Darjeeling and Gunpowder Green),and even though I'm no connoisseur, they both taste fine.I'm not sure if any of the health-protective qualities will still be present in tea that is so out of date.I think I'll put it in the compost...0
