Hi,
When playing with my Bichon Frise on Saturday I noticed one creepy crawly on his belly - luckily he's just had his hair cut quite short because of the hotter weather and its easier to see.
I panicked, dashed straight off to Pets at Home and got some FrontLine treatment and a can of squirty stuff to treat the carpets etc.
I found one or two more later in the day on him but not what I would class as an infestation. He's had the treatment I've vacuumed everywhere twice and have boil washed his bedding, my bedding, squirted the can everywhere I can think of and gone through him with a fine toothcomb (metaphorically speaking!) and there doesn't seem to be anything further.
Is there anything else I should do?
He had his hair cut last Sunday at the groomers and I think that's where he picked them up. Hopefully, I've just nipped it in the bud before it got out of hand.
Also, just to put my mind at rest - can they infest humans? (daft question but I've not stopped itching since I found the flea! I have no visible bites.)
I was totally mortified to find a flea - never had them before and hopefully won't hve them again! I'm also a cleaning fanatic so you can imagine my horror!
Thanks for any advice in advance!0 -
Don't panic! You should be OK now although another dose of Frontline in 4 weeks (check the packet first) will get rid of anything that hatches meanwhile.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has used those plug in things:

Don't worry too much, it's almost as inevitable as children who go to playgroup getting headlice! Are you itching yet??!!Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -
Thanks!
Still itching although I know its psychological!
Its just a yukky feeling that there's been fleas in my house!:o0 -
'and gone through him with a fine toothcomb (metaphorically speaking!) '
and why haven't you done it literally speaking?
I would, if only to reassure yourself that he's not seething with them!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I have actually been right through him and he's fine - not a single one to be seen, no little specky egg things either.
Think I caught it just in time.
He's not scratching (that's just me at the thought!) and seems absolutely fine in himself.
I think I panicked but probably in a good way.0
