..............still fighting the blighters!
our can of RIP from the vets cost us £15 its dosent do a 3 bed house as I can vouch for that from our recent experience.
we used one up last week, and had to buy another one on friday there. its already half gone, and thats just spraying the downstairs, hall stairs, and upstairs landing, and part of 1 bedroom. we have had to do this a few times, as the next morning there are more of them? i thought it was supposed 2 last 12 months! it doesnt even last one day as after the areas i spray.... there are fleas their the next day?
i dont get where they come from? either the dog (frontline maybe isnt working cos his furs so thick) Does any1 know if this would b the case??
or theyre growing new from egg? we are covering the whole area.
seems to be better in the living room i havent noticed any on me whole weekend in living room, and thats where our dog is and his bed?
but its the hall, stairs that i get them.
ive been wearing cream leather knee high boots as i cant stand them jumping on my socks anymore!!! whether they dont like leather?? cos ive had none on my boots at all, yet when i take my boots off i get the odd couple?
saga still goes on, the spray will probably run out again, dont know if ill buy some more>bit of a fortune, id probalby b better getting the fumigator quoted to me @ £55.
i heard the flea bomns were rubbish? the vets swear by RIP and FRONTLINE0 -
Just to throw in my two-pennies: don't hoover!
I spent a month trying everything to get rid of the cat fleas in my flat - truly disgusted with the level of infestation in the carpet!
I finally gave up - used flea spray everywhere but was still finding them.
HOWEVER - a week later without hoovering, and they were all completely gone - no sign of the !!!!!!s whatsoever.
Someone told me that's because when you hoover, you suck up all the insecticide, and it can take up to a week to clear the infestation. So by leaving the carpets for a week, I actually gave the insecticide a proper chance to do its job.
Don't know how that effects the dog, though, if he snuffles around in the carpet... check manufacturers' instructions (??)Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

You sound like you ve got a real infestation of the blighters. I have a dog who gets the occasional flea and one dose of frontline and thats it.
I would strongly advise you to get the fumigators in , as it sounds like you have spent so much on products with no success.
Good luck
lou xIts been the longest three months..... success is nearly insight:T ....... Money in account :beer:0 -
hi, had same problem 3 months ago, called my local civic centre , they have specialised team of people who come to your home spray something everywhere, (its free to use them as we all pay for them in our council tax bills)you must leave the house for 4 hours, then is fine , smells strange , we are fine and my dogs are ok, and no fleas 3 monts now0

thanx for comments
WE cant do anything at the moment, havent sprayed for a while, i thoroughly sprayed the stairs, downstairs landing and upsatirs landing a few days ago and just today my boyf said 2 were on his leg from coming downstairs.
ive been wearing cream knee high boots as i cant stand them jumpin on me, and its worked they dont go near me!
i am mad!!!!!! this rip spray clearly isnt working ive paid £30 for 2 cans! it says its supposed 2 last 12 months, surely i should only have to spray it once!!?
we've hoovered, then sprayed and left it. at the moment we're not doing anything.
The dogs still biting himself and itcihn......which i dont get? does this mean the frontline isnt workin as well as spray? i want a refund if it isnt cos its cost me £18! we're getting him a haircut @ the vets next week so that may help hopefully?
we took him to the vet yesyerday to check whether theyre was still live fleas, but she couldnt tell, she didnt really do much, just looked a bit, and said well you can buy our serum >advocate just to be sure (but that cost £23!)
its not even my dog! its my boyfriends who i live with but he's having money problems so im paying for all this. ive already spent about £75 odd for a new bed, frontline, sprays, brushes! + fumigator would cost £55
the vets cant seem to do anything.
trouble is i can get a guy into fumigate but i need the house cleared of boxes, storage, stuff as we have alot of stuff, how can u possibly clear everything in your house>what r u supposed 2 do with it?
and im worried that if the RIP insecticide spray isnt working, maybe a fumgiator wont work........maybe they're resisitant to it???
GOD i hate them with a vengance!!:mad:0 -
I would change vets if i were you ..cant tell if fleas are dead or alive .. im mean come on , all you have to do is part the coat and watch the !!!!!!s run ..some vet you have there. I posted in the other thread you had going . i had exactly the same problem a few summers ago. I used RIP and Frontline , didnt work overnight , it did take a few days , possibly a week , but both did work for me .0

has anyone used this?
it sprays silicone which supposedly traps the fleas and eggs in a glue so they cannot hatch. ive already tried 2x bottles of perithimn spray+ we still have some
also an electric flea comb that lights up when fleas are detected? it zaps them with a electrical current WITHOUT harming dog.
has anyone ever used these/ r they good?
please help! ta0 -
Never heard of it and on looking it up Im rather sceptical.
Personally Id treat the whole house with indorex - only needs to be done once a year - and use Advantage on your dog/cat to kill those its carrying.
Im not one for using pesticides willy nilly and will only treat when there is a problem. Adding garlic to a pets food helps keep fleas off them0 -
Is it possible for a dog to catch human lice...?
I ask this as both our dogs have been scratching and chuffing at their skin the last few days.
They are due to be flea'd, but can't find any on them.
However, they were in company of a dirty friend last week. When I say dirty, I mean she's a propper skank!
Anyway, last nite I spotted a small insect on the back of one of the dogs which was far too big to be a flea!
Treated them anyway, but need to point the finger as I'm a clean!0 -
Urgh!
But yes, dogs can carry human lice/mites etc on them. They would not neccesarily be from direct contact with a person, but they live in furnishings and floorings, so hop on from there!
I would get a skin scrape at the vets and treat for the correct mite, as not all flea treatments will kill things they aren't licensed for, and you don't want these breeding in YOUR carpet!
Be prepared for the correct id - I have seen human pubic lice before on skin scrapes, and nits (head lice) to name a couple!Give yourself a Chistmas bonus £14 a week!
Total so far £280
