Great 'Christmas cupboard fillers' Hunt

I have just brought a stocking filler item- a remote control lexus with working lights from Amazon_ used a £5 gift certtificate from Sony (do polls each month for £5 amazon voucher) so its cost me £3.62 delivered! I am really pleased as I give my two nephews cash, but as they are both special needs kids even at 11 and 14 they want a few little items to open on Christmas day. This year I ended up spending over £20 on each of them on bits and bobs to open and gave them £50 cash each so it worked out very expensive.
I have also decided to put £2 away each week in a sealed pot so I havent got to find thier Christmas cash at the end of the year! And I am finally going to use my ING account to save £10 a week (hopefully!) to save for my on kids pressies.
This is an expensive year for me as my Son is 21 in March and its our Silver Wedding Anniversary in September (but on the plus side my car got through its MOT on saturday for £60!! Woo Hoo!- not bad for a S reg!It wouldn't even have been that much if my puppy german shepherd hadnt decided to eat her way through the rear seat belt!!).
What I am trying to say is that this year I am going to start saving little and often, some weeks may be harder than others but I am going to try my best! Threads like these give me reassurance that I am not the only person out there who is planning ahead for Christmas this year! Thank youlovin' this site!

ooh- I forgot to say also check out the Freebies board on here and on HUKD. I make advent clandars for Mom, Sis ,my kids and OH (which is a LOT of litle gifts to get!) and last year I hardley had to buy any! Freebies included cans of vodka and coke, whisky and Baileys samples make up bits and bobs (from Boots offers and mags etc), glade candles etc. These are excellent if you plan to make hampers etc, just keep your eyes peeled and they soon mount up (heads up Clinique are giving away a deluxe mascara sample form 17th-30th Jan when you take an old mascara into a Debenhams Clinique counter)HTHlovin' this site!

Must have made about 100 out of two of these big tubs, how many mince pies did I eat? Not one! I was too busy baking.
Hi great idea but where do you buy your cellophane from please?0 -
I'm a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas but I did make the effort to buy this year's Christmas cards from Tesco on New Year's Eve. I got 30 for £1.75 (half price) and they're quite good quality. I was back again this week but it's only really the odds and sods that are either still quite expensive or not worth having.
...Or the things that they've put out that are quite good but they haven't put a price on!Thank you competition posters!

The Range have 10 pk boxes of Xmas cards for 65p - £1. Just got 2 boxes for 65p each, nice ones too. Tinsel and other decs are reduced too if you need renewals or fresh colours as well as a range (!sorry!) of other Xmas stuff but it is rapidly disappearing.
Sainsburys have cards reduced but are being a bit slow on other goods e.g. some of their Xmas napkins are half price but other Xmas napkins are not. Still, it'd be worth asking for a reduction on similar products that aren't on the basis someone probably just hasn't done their job properly.
Lidl had no excess Xmas stuffBoo for us (the consumer) but well done them on ordering sensibly/wisely. Or is it just my local store (Cardiff)?
Boots is always good value - some of the items are still on the 3 for 2 xmas gift offer despite reductions but check shelf labels to be sure.
Wrapping paper and cards are always my top Jan buys but always make sure you have one or two people in mind for the Xmas gifts you buy in advance and don't go mad just for the sake of a bargain otherwise it ends up a waste of money in the long run and you'll just be cluttering the house with gifts you can't find homes for next Xmas!0 -

Just recognised myself here - not exactly moneysaving is it?0 -
I popped into Sports Direct to pic up some socks and had to go upstairs and right to the back to pay at their only tills, but, in doing so I passed their sale stand and picked up 5x 10m rolls of Christmas wrapping paper for 10p each! I have tons of bargain wrapping paper already, but it'll never go out of fashion plus I share it with my dear old Mum!
Also got loads of WH Smiths cards for 99p a pack, inc some v expensive Woodmansterne ones with a retail price of £6.99 for 10!
Happy New Year all!0
