I'm really pleased with mine too - it is noisy, but cleans well. Can't believe how much it picked up from a supposedly clean carpet! :T

    Same!!

i reserved my vax at argos last nite, picked i up this afternoon, only to find I had problems trying to fit the plastic tube at the front, which collects the dirt.

Spent ages and ages and ages trying to fit it, before calling it a day. Unscrewed everything, went back to argos to find they would not accept the return of my vax because I ad not packed it property. cut a long story short, I ended up walking away a gift voucher.

it is a nightmare repaking the product :(

  • I'm surprised you had any problems, are you sure there was nothing wrong with it?

It took me about 10-15mins to put it together following the instructions, it was relatively straight forward.

Got one today - love it. Very impressed for a forty quid cleaner. It's put the Miele pet one to shame we have.

OH found it a pain to take out of the box and was a little fiddly - it comes pretty much dismantled. But it was worth it. Thanks OP as I'm v.pleased. :)

Hi my Vax has just broken down ( only had it 3 weeks) so it needs to go back to Argos. I have this one http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002451&langId=-1&searchTerms=4063988

and find it incredibly noisy but worst of all the air blowing out of the exhaust is powerful enough to blow the the newspaper off the table. I blows the dust into the air, so much, that I have to shower after hoovering. I has a fantastically long lead which I love.

Does Vax pet bagless cleaner in Argos that op recommends have the same noise/exhaust problems?

    TIA

    Dx

The Vax cleaner we bought about 6 months ago has the same exhaust design flaw - it's really stupid. We have a open fire in the living room and if you forget to go past it with the exhaust blowing away from it you can end up making more mess than you were cleaning up in the first place. It does seem to have a problem with heavier particles too - they seem to collect in the body of the machine rather than going into the drum and are then deposited when you turn it off.

And although it does seem like a bit silly to complain about a vacuum cleaner being loud, our Vax is incredibly loud... sometimes painfully so... especially when you stretch out the hose it can induce an earsplitting feedback like whistle - though if you want to replicate the after effects of a My Bloody Valentine concert every time you vacuum then these will be ideal for you.

The flex on the ones we have had are also quite short compared to other vacuums we've had. But having said all that it does get the dog hair up where out previously trusted Henry failed. Thankfully the Vax machines seem to be on perpetual offer at Argos and at their sale prices I think they provide good value but if I was having to pay their supposed full price I'd feel a bit ripped off.

Thinking of buying this vacuum cleaner, but before I do, could anyone who already has one tell me does it have a beater bar on the front (the cylinder thing with brushes on underneath which goes round as you vacuum)

and also if the upholstery tool is any good?
