Wow, at evryone's posts.
I've read, studied and would like to join if thats ok.
I'm a 20 a day for 30 years smoker with 1 success at quitting 9 years ago (for 6 months with the help of patches).
I have an OH who smokes and isnt ready to think about quitting (argh).
I don't have the money to spend on expensive seminars, books and no way I can do this cold turkey (welldone to everyone who has done this with will power.
But i do want to stop permanently. I'm scared.
But someone on Memorygirls thread suggested posting here (I didnt want to)
But after reading what people say, this seems like a lovely supportive place to be.
So I have 10 cigarettes left.
Then the patch is going on.
Massive well done to you all, and sooooooooooo looking forward to beeeeing able to post that I have been 24 hours clean.0 -

*skips up stairs like a 5 year old*This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Welcome Fantasia.
Still non-smokers. I had a funny five minutes with it last night, something happened that would normally drive me to a fag. My mate went outside and had one (under the stress relief pretence) and my brain thought that's it I'm going to have one too. But my body was having none of it, could not be arsed to get off the chair and take my brain outside. Within about a minute my brain gave up and decided it didn't actually fancy one either. Result!
I love not smoking. I ordered a couple of dresses (half price in the sales) to try out for a do I have soon. Original mind set was to keep the best one and return the other but both actually looked really good. Then we remembered that the dresses cost less than I spend on fags in a week - so DH decided I should keep both. Result number 2!
Keep going quitters. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Somewhere between lunchtime and 5pm today I lost my patch  How embarrassing as I have no idea where it went.
:rotfl: Kiwi, I know I shouldn't laugh but I can relate to that. I lost one of my patches in work (i work in a primary school) it was there in the morning, after lunch it was gone  I was paranoid that one of the children would find it! I had them laughing in the office as I 'reported' it lost! I now constantly check it is still attached to my arm
Another reason I'm not giving in: checked my bank account today and I have money in there. My bank charges (so far) for this month is..drum roll please... 43p. I even checked TWICE, as normally by now (half way through the month) it is a staggering £75 and by the end of the month it has been an astronomical £150 every month (not all caused by the ciggies, but they sure didn't help)
I just love this not smoking..and I want to say a massive thank you to everyone for helping me give up and although you don't realise it, but you've all helped with my bank charges~bless you all (and the chickens)
Hope everyone is well and proud of themselves
Welcome Fantasia

Hi there
Just popping in to say well done to everyone.
I am nearly a week smoke-free and very proud.
I really haven't missed it much at all, I mean I think "oh I'll pop downstairs for a fag", but no real cravings and I can't quite work out why, I smoked for 20+ years and enjoyed it???? Maybe the time was just right for me, I had been thinking about it for a long time. Anyway, I am still worried that it's going to "hit me hard" any day now, but hopefully, the physical withdrawal has happened and I just need to keep up with the "mental" one.
Welcome on board the newbies - you can do it. :beer:0 -

well done goochie you will past the physical addiction with old nic, its just the mental assosiations that crop up even when you least expect it .NEVER be tempted into thinking it was so easy, so just one and i can stop again , its a downward spiral and old nic has his claws in ya once more . STAY in the driving seat and be the one in control at all times you have done fantastically well . dont forget to treat yourself too
jd xx
hope you are fine sue-uu and havent fallen to any lurgies ..just to let you know thinking of ya x x0 -
Evening people and well done to so many of you, :j
I'm having a bit of a wobble again at the mo. Its def the mental association my little boy is out so i normally sneak some fags in now. I'm going to scrub the kitchen with music blasting out, i've been for a walk for half an hour and i think my head is imagining all sorts, i think just to tempt me into a fag, I'd prob have an argument with someone if i wasn't on my own.
I'm tired cause i've not been sleeping well either, right i've had my moan thanks for listening. I'll get scrubbing and then have a nice bath and hopefully a good nights sleep.
Two days, 19 hours, 10 minutes and 44 seconds. 19 cigarettes not smoked, saving £5.49. Life saved: 1 hour, 35 minutes. I found that silkquit thing for stats and averaged my binge smoking from the 1st jan. I am that sad that i actually write down how many fags i have, i've done this for ages.:o
