Been off the fags for 13 months!

Hi everyone. Just popped in to see what's going on, especially as it's a new year and there are lots of newbies on here. I can so sympathise with what some of you are doing through. Don't despair......you can do it!

I've just remembered another "trick" I used to help myself through. Every morning I would tell myself "I am not going to smoke today, but if I want one tomorrow, I will". Sounds pathetic, but it really helped.

Good luck everyone. Yet again, if I can do it, anyone can.
  • Just collected champix prescription

Found this forum this evening. Hope newbie welcome i stopped smoking for 18 months and lapsed about three months ago.

Full of self loathing and regret at own stupidity.

Everyone here is newbie friendly... and good luck! As to the self loathing, no point dearie - we've all been there. I quit for nearly 3 years and started again, I've quit often for 6 months and started again. Sometimes it's just not the right time, but at least you got a break from nasty nic.

Today is a new day! Any time you need us we're all on here and thereabouts, and we all remember the first days and weeks so lean as much as you need :)

I've had another grim evening, so bad tempered and angry with anything that moves. I can't blame it on a lost patch today.

Does anyone have a link to the chart that tells you after how many days you are supposed to start feeling wonderful and wanting to skip through meadows all fresh faced and looking lovely. :rotfl:

I couldn't even raise the strength to cry!!
    Mortgage
    Start January 2017: $268,012
    Latest balance $266,734
    Reduction: $1,278.45
  • Kiwisaver, my really sad bad mood cleared up by about day 3 - 4. But DH and I bickered badly for about 2 weeks (both gave up at the same time).

    ETA: 20 days cold turkey
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

    Good afternoon all.
I was absent yesterday as I was out of the house all day! Boy did it take its toll...37 weeks pregnant and by 8pm I couldnt keep my eyes open ;) Haha
Still getting lots of false contractions and baby is wriggling lots (right on cue then lol) and Im feeling good. Keep waking up at silly o'clock in the night thinking about labour! Haha
Smoking wise - I had one very hard craving last night. I really thought about going to buy 10 to just have one. I really wanted one. And even when the craving went, I was still thinking 'I really want one anyway - I'll be fine now just having one'
I didnt, but I really could have! Everyone seems to be doing really well! Keep at the good work! :)

Can I ask you guys a question - I gave up smoking a few years ago, and last 18 months. My gran died and whilst stood outside the hospital - I had the urge and lit up. 18 months of no smoking down the pan - I wouldnt mind but she died of angina, and COPD - was bed ridden as she couldnt get her breath, was on aoxygen 24/7 and a nebuliser 4 times a day - YET I start smoking! Oh the irony.
My brother gave up smoking when his daughter was born. He lasted a year and then stated again...
My question is - is it really possible to give up forever? I have a sneaky suspicion it might not be (maybe just for me or my family) and talking over with my bro today - he thinks I will eventually start smoking again - as we all have before. I dont want to be a negative nelly - its a genuine question.
    What do you guys think?
