  • Hi all

Im now at 48 hours of escaping the fags after reading Allen Carr's Easyway. I do not have the feeling of wanting a cigarette but I am experiencing nausea and dizziness and just plain off colour. Is this normal??

Yep, your body's not used to not having poison put in, it needs time to recuperate. Well done and good for you, and I love the idea of you escaping the fags rather than 'giving up' or quitting :)

Checking in to wish all the other 2-weekers a well-done, and good luck to all the new joiners. Hubby and I both very pleased with ourselves, ( he is still using patches) and at last, we are not thinking about cigs every second of every day !
    I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<3

Oh Kiwisaver, I can identify with the old you so very well and have done all that you did, especially with the "one won't hurt" then adding to it one by one, stupid I know, but there aren't many of us who have now quit for good that haven't done it a fair few times before without succeeding for long. Still, lots of us have and, from all you've written today, it sounds as though you have a whole different way of viewing it, though I think we also get to a stage where age tells us we can't go on smoking without risks catching up with us. Come Sunday or Monday, Kiwisaver you'll know when's right, I think you'll also know you have our backing and encouragement throughout. Wishing you every success! x :)

Hello sailorswife and a very warm welcome to the thread. There has been much success due to books and CDs of Alan Carr, I sincerely hope you can add your name to the long list soon. It is fairly common to experience nausea, dizziness and so forth after stopping, though mostly that comes with starting some kind of NRT to help conquer quitting. However, your body's going through a great deal of changes and it's had quite shock, but in time it'll soon get used to the new and very healthy way of life that you've chosen. Another day or so and you should really be feeling so very much better. If not, then there are a lot of viruses going around so you may be starting off with something like that, but we do sometimes get affected by dizziness after stopping so I think that's your problem. Take extra water than your used to, it'll help wash your system through and you'll soon find benefits, also get some fresh air. A gentle walk may do you the world of good. All best wishes sailorswife and please let us know how you're getting on, we take great interest from folk going from strength to strength, you have a wonderful journey ahead, enjoy it even at times that just may be a little harder, the following day is usually far better. Grab this chance to quit!! :)

Anna, you're doing amazingly well and reaping so many benefits so quickly! You sound so determined though and it's that which gets us through it all far easier than if we set off without it. Housework is a marvellous task to throw yourself into, it's so good to see the results, very therapeutic indeed. The exercise is also helping you no end and there is a lot more success with people who exercise than with those who don't bother - so, keep at it, Anna and release more endorphins into your brain to help you even more, they're standing you in great stead so far! It's so good to know you're feeling so proud of yourself, at day 4 you've soooo much to be feeling proud about, enjoy it!!

Hiya Az....I had mental images too.....phaw I liked what I 'saw' especially when he whirled round!!!!! Behave woman!! I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ross isn't hard at it with his dissertation, I know the other day he was starting to sweat about it and time left.

    See you all later,

    Sue x

    Hello all
    Happy Weekend to you all!
I am on day 7 and on day 2 of no patches. Again it feels easier without them, rather than with them. I seem to remember whern I gave up a few years agi that I only managed about 4 days or so with a patch on - maybe its my freaky body! I managed 18 months back then - so Im hoping for at least 3 years this time lol...if not FOREVER!
Hope everyone is doing well and thinking about you all!
