I am doing ok, apart from this bug which doesn't seem to want to go. I just want to sleep and with a ds of 10 it's not always possible.

I am so glad I'm not smoking though. Thanks to everyone on this thread for the support, it definately helps. Well done to everyone that has quit or is thinking of quitting. Take care.

Ah well DD, simple, on yer bike? Works for DNM!
NO way!!! It's over 10 miles and 3 of that are hills that are 19% and over steep  By the time I got there and recovered, it'd be time to come home. Still, 3 fast miles downhill tho' :rotfl::rotfl:

At least after 5 plus months you could try blowing back and see who's best or what you CM stats are!  Just a thought, that's all. Not such good news about the water - what happens now?

You got a bike too, larmy??? :D

Keep up the stubborn streak in you all, if it helps get you to the winning line - why not!

    Panic?????????? _pale_

That's only 1 of my problems! The other 4 are:

    1) Guttering fallen down onto glass Orangery roof (broken tinted triple glazing especially imported from Sweden, that took months to get here)

    2) Flooding from burst pipes (wooden parquet floor ruined, pictures, furniture ruined)

    3) Flooding from melted snow on roof

    4) Boiler gone BANG

All in houses where the owners are on their annual detox/chill/skiing trip in Thailand/California/Antigua/Austria............

Still, watching the news keeps it all in context.

Oh and couldn't get to 1 of my jobs as when I went to pull in drive it was packed with journalists....................Mr. has been a naughty boy ;)

But I did NOT crave for a cigarette!!!

  • Good morning fellow quitters :)

Hope everyone is doing well, although I must say this no smoking is making me quite agitated and irritable (not sure if this is the patches?).

One thing I will not miss is opening my wardrobe and the smell of smoke lurking from all my clothes...I must say, now that Im not smoking I realise how strong the smell is....I remember going out for a smoke and frantically spraying myself with perfume/bodyspray to try and mask the smell to try and hide it! How naive!!! :rotfl:

This morning has been tough, an argument with my OH this morning has left me feeling like I really want one, but im determined not to back down. Doesn't help that the two of us are as stubborn as each other...;)

Am back off to boots tomorrow to get my 2nd week of patches, although I think I will switch to the 16hr ones as the 24hr patches seem to be giving me nightmares

A very warm welcome to the thread, Kiwisaver! Good to have you with us and freeing yourself from the evil weed. I know you said you were a bit daunted by reading the 200 odd pages of the old thread, but there's some valuable help to be had from doing so - and whilst you're doing that you're mind is taken up in thoughts of your own that will help. What sort of gum are you using? Could you please in future put the days not smoked for as well as the means of quitting on the Title bar (you'll see others have done so) it helps us all to help you and to know just hopw far you are, thanks a lot.

My advice on having your last ciggy would be late one day, in the evening or definitely making the last one at night. If you were to have one in the morning you'd risk put the longing there right from the start of the day and right through to the end. Far easier to start afresh. Change your routine if it helps, drinks connected with fags too as well as alcohol, both help free you at least for the early weeks/months

I will be using Habitrol patches and gum, as I had no choice of the brand as it was on prescription. I understand this is the generic 'rebranded' Nicotinell. Whilst having much trepidation and many fears about how I will feel and cope over the next week or so, I am getting a little obsessed about the timing of the last fag. I already feel like I have given up, constantly thinking about when the next smoke will be and smoking loads more than I normally would, whilst drinking the orange juice and taking the vitamins.

I just want it to be over already, if I could have had the patches last weekend I would have started Monday of this week. I got them yesterday and was dead keen to get going straight away; however I talked myself out of it, being too hard to start so near to the weekend.

  • Hi all,

Day 3 is here - feeling quite proud....but struggling today...

Yesterday was a brilliant day - was feeling just how smellyoldsock described - i actually think i am being funnier then ever now I have given up :rotfl:
So yesterday was a good day at 5pm was just tidying up at work and had the urge to go for a run when I went home! So i did, my god I am so unfit but felt loads better for it and think I might go again tonight. Saw my friend who still smokes last night and god bless her she didnt smoke round me, but it did make me think that maybe i didnt want to do this so had a rough evening yesterday....and it seems the feeling has stuck with me today.
Am also very worried about the eating thing -anything in sight I want to eat - I have just eaten my lunch already!!!!!!! It's gonna be a long friday afternoon.

Anyway gonna stick to the running and try not to eat!! Which I am actually finding harder than the need to smoke!

But I would like to say thanks to everyone here - whenever I get a moment of weakness I come on here have a good old read through the comments and it defo makes me feel better.

Well done everyone - lets make it through another smoke free day!:T
  • Afternoon all x

Anna, I'm a bit worried about the eating as I certainly have my appetite back! I found I graze more now rather than eat big meals. So I do a small brekkie, mid morning snack, sarnie for lunch, fruit mid afternoon, smaller than normal portion for tea (nearly half what I was havnig before) and then another snack mid evening. This does seem to be keeping my work clothes fitting ok. I can taste everything now so I'm interested in variety not quantity :)

SmellyOldSock, I was really tearful the first week or so but now I feel very sparkley and positive. DH has given up too and we have bickered like crazy and I can't wait for that bit to calm down :)

My mind in general feels much sharper though without trying to think through a smokey smog.

Keep going everyone - we are doing brilliantly.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Only you will know when your ready. If your not ready, you'll set yourself up to fail (in my opinion lol) so if that means you smoke for another day, week month etc...then so be it! Keep posting and when your ready - yoou will know x

  • Hi all

Kiwi, you'll get there, don't beat yourself up about it.

I cut down from 20 to 10 a day for a week before I quit - and I was a wreck for the first couple of days - all I did was think, OK, I've had one, now I've got to wait at least xx amount of time before I can have another one, otherwise I'll run out - it was a nightmare - I can honestly say that since I stopped on Weds, I have thought about smoking a lot less than I did for the past week.!!

I have barely used the inhalator and not had any real cravings - I've had quite a few moments where I stand up and think, I'll just pop down for a fag before I do my next bit of work, and then realise that "I don't do that anymore".

The one thing I have found is that I didn't leave my desk all day yesterday apart from to go to the loo, must still go for a walk around the block a couple of times a day, otherwise I will never see any daylight hours.

Anyhoo, I am rattling on here - well done to all the "quitters", I hope you have a happy, stress-free and smoke-free weekend.
