The Giving Up Smoking Thread - Part 3

Hi there
Been lurking for a few weeks as I knew that this day was coming, had my last cig at 10pm last night. Not sure how I am feeling this morning, kind of excited, kind of nervous, bit jittery (that could be the coffee tho!).
I really want to be smoke-free, I have smoked 15-20 a day for approx. 22 years (eeekk...) and I have to have surgery next Friday and am determined to be smoke-free for at least a week before then and then every day afterwards.
I first joined this thread back in March 2009 and Sue-U sent me her fabulous welcome PM (which I still have), it's taken me a while, but I'm here now!!!
Well done everyone, you are doing really well.
Have a great day.
I also had my last cig at 10pm last night so nearly at the 24 hour mark. Same as you I also posted on this thread last year and got the really great PM from Sue uu. I really didn't have the willpower back then as was so stressed out with assignments for Uni.
But Uni course now complete and passed so no more excuses! Have had a few moments today where I so wanted a cig but I just kept myself busy and the moment passed.
I'm hoping that this time I don't fail. Have got the gum to help. Also have some patches but don't really want to have a continuous release of nicotine so have not opened them.
Ok, off to get a satsuma to nibble on!:D0 -

Today has been a funny old day and for the first time (I think, correct me if I'm mistaken) I actually thought about going and getting a cig to smoke  first time I have been to my counselling session since I quit and I really did think about it - just a habit its what I always did, spark up straight afterwards. Luckily the moment passed afterwards and instead I rode my bike home (car still in the garage)
So I have another 2 years until I get told to b*gger off :rotfl: I used get that 'In a minute'. Now I get 'Yep, coming' every 30 minute. I'm ready to go on dog walk at 5-30pm, we leave at about 7pm  I do get a 'Go away, mum' now and then. I wouldn't dare say that to my mum or even my dad. Where has the respect gone
I had to do some 'work' planning today and I had the same thought~I'll have a ciggie when I do my planning~:( The thought soon went, maybe it was because this is the 4th time I have 'tried' to do this planning and I've had to change it AGAIN!!
Hope your car 'feels better' very soon. I've got to get my breaks done on my carPoor things

Hi and welcome back, auntiesue, good to see you joining us again and ready to quit. Well done on passing your Uni course. I agree with you re the patches, but each to what suits them best. I'm really hoping you'll be able to manage this time, though I'll bet you haven't still got the PM?!!
Don't forget the water to help you and apples along with the Satsumas too, both lengthy to eat but the vital Vit C in the Satsumas. Also try Ice Pops, they are just great for a long, cool relief - and NO FAT!!!! Talking of fat - plenty of exercise! Helps with the brain for sure.
Hi DNM and Az and well done both of you on yet another day's success! It's good to hear the benefits you get from your bike DNM....see there's always a plus side to the seemingly bad things in life; though with kids??? Maybe we'll keep hoping. Glad our 2 are married now.
Oh dear Az....you sound a little perplexed, crazy too - a sort of heart's in the right place lady, head too maybe - but I wouldn't care to look for it, the disappointment might be too great! :rotfl:All best wishes with the phone...you sound like me, a big kid with that sort of thing!dundeedoll wrote:Just to keep in with the theme of this thread...................wound down my window of the car earlier..................and my exhaust is blowing
Ah well DD, simple, on yer bike? Works for DNM! At least after 5 plus months you could try blowing back and see who's best or what you CM stats are! Just a thought, that's all. Not such good news about the water - what happens now?
You got a bike too, larmy???
Keep up the stubborn streak in you all, if it helps get you to the winning line - why not!

Evening all - as predicted today was a better day and I reckon I had 5 very hard cravings - which compared to the last few days was great!
I got my new maternity bras (woo hoo!) finished the babys nursery, sorted and ironed ALL her clothes, cleaned my kitchen and did some food shopping. Felt very accomplished and it was only when I was in the car on the way home from shopping, sat down after tea and a few other times I needed a fag more than anything in the world!!!! But as you guys said - it passed and it got easier!
Here is to day 6
