  • Denis UK - without doubt the very best birthday present you could have given yourself :T:T:T well done you.

Just had to pop by to say - how wonderful to see you back Sue - however lovely other people are, I don't think there is anyone who can quite fill your shoes. Absolutely, totally and utterly one in a million and doing the very best job in the world :A xxx

    Must dash

(59 days alcohol free, 29 days cigarette free. Now addicted to apples - at least 10 a day :o and instead of bringing my fags with me when I leave the house.....I'm leaving with a bag full of apples :rotfl: what a ridiculous thing)

Well done everyone.....hope you enjoy a smoke free day :)

Hi crazymum and even more splendid news about your fantastic statistics!!! :T:T You really are dong wonderfully well, the family must be so very proud of you, I know I am!!!

I know I always advise apples to everyone as they're long-lasting and keep the mind from other things, which is great, but are there any other hours of the day left to fill for you!!! Keep them up, anything that works and isn't smoking related is superb!!!

    Sue x

All the very best to you, determined for Day 2 in the nicotine-free world. You can do this, you know you can. I'm with you all the way! As to your statement, I reckon my DH would have a great deal to say..though if I was to rid the world from fags then he'd have me to himself completely!!! :rotfl:

Don't forget the Silk Quit meter here http://www.silkquit.org/stop-smoking/quit-meter.aspx to help you along the way, determined.

All the very best to everyone for making today free from EVERYTHING fag-related!

Hello determined new ms  I am going cold turkey too so any tips you have in your week ahead of me please share :D

One thing I am planning to do is completely change my routine which at the moment is get up really early sit and watch bbc news with a cup of tea or 2 and a fag or 5 :o From Weds I plan to make my tea then take it back to bed for a while watching the news upstairs (currently never smoke upstairs) oh and probably take myself an extra half an hour kip time to replace the fag time :):) bonus
I am also waiting for a new car so that will be a real motivation to not inhale as many fags as I can on the way to work and back.

I will post any others I think of but good luck to you and lets all stick together :D

SueU thanks again for your thoughts - you are a lovely person thats for sure

    Hello

You will do it, it is all about your frame of mind, as has been said by someone else just do it, it does get easier I am only on day 4 but even for me each day has got a little easier :)

Do not feel deprived, dont feel as though you have sacrificed something instead try and feel happy your are free from the evil weed, be happy you are a non smoker that is the secret ;) Most of all do not look at other smokers and envy them, if truth be known it is them that envy you ;)

    Hi folks

    just a quick note

Well do to all still quitting and to those that have joined us.

3 days is great Underpressure - keep it up hun - you're doing fab!

    - notched up 14 weeks today - well i think so - it's seems such a long time since i had a smoke - which i suppose is a good thing!

busy busy as always - must try to pop in more often - but work's a nightmare and we're still hoping to have the house up for sale by end of March - only 2 rooms to do now - really looking forward to my escape to the country (wish i had the money they seem to have on that programme mind)

    hugs to all

  • Well Day 4 today for me, I do not know where the self confidence has comne from but I know for sure this time I have it all figured out.

I know I will NEVER smoke again! :)

That makes me smile like you would not believe, 21 years I have been an addict, it has impacted on my life in ways that I had not even thought of, I am so so so pleased, proud, excited, elated to have finally quit and be free. I know some of you reading this will be thinking "its only 4 days", in fact my darling mother said exactly the same thing to me yesterday, she is a "confirmed" smoker, what she did not get is it is all about your frame of mind, this time mine is completely different to before, you see on my earlier attempts I have always felt deprived, as though I was making a sacrifice of some sort which made me unhappy whilst trying to quit, this was the problem and why I failed soooooooo many times, this time I am literally over the moon to be a non smoker, each day I notice something else change, better taste, better smell, I smell better personally, not as lethargic, each day something get a bit better, keep it up guys honestly this is the best thing I have done for years :)

The daytime has now got easy to deal with, no pangs of any description smoking during the day is now not even a thought, night time is a little more difficult, had another pang last night it was difficult but a little easier than the night before, I am slowly figuring out how to make them go away quickly, what to think about and how to distract my mind, at the end of the day it is me fighting with me which is just silly.
Still taking the Champix as said in an earlier thread I will finish the 3 month course of these, had no side affects worth mentioning so no reason not to finish them.
It is great to read so many posts from people who have also quit and how you are all getting on, as well as the the people slowly working themselves up to the big quit day, you are all great and you can all do it! :)

Keep up the good work quitters and have a great day :)

You've got it Underpressure, it truly is all about not thinking you're now missing on something, but that we're all gaining, especially in far better health, much better looking skin, not seeing our teeth rot away, smelling so much sweeter or putting ourselves at risk of so very many smoking-related diseases! Who could argue against any of that.

    Sue x

Lovely to see you on the thread, PIC, though your postmen picks his times! You weren't insinuating that he brings you a load of junk mail were you??? That's all we had when we returned from shopping this morning..absolutely rubbish!

    Sue x

Could I ask you ALL to kindly put your amount of time free from actual smoking and the means used on your Title Bars for me please? eg. 13 years & 1 month, cold turkey. :j

It's such a help, not just to me, but as a reminder to you all too - and to others watching in; they often use the means as an indication to what they think might be best for them.

    Thanks folks.
