I must PM you Sue.... Glad you are on the mend though....
Anyhow waiting on new e-cig (well a spare now I've found the kit I like) and it hasn't come like 2.5 weeks (over) airmail from the states...
But the slow but sure reduction in nic concentration is going well...
If you've tried everything else and still having a hard time then I do recommend the e-cig. Lots of friendly folk elsewhere on this forum for it. I'd not be doing so well (like zero chance) without it. Don't be put off my my wee probs with it (which seem to happen everytime I get something 'new' not 'erme tried and tested' for it).....I am not the most sensible when it comes to trying out new toys....
So yeah welcome newbies and oldies

My skin has got worsebut I musn't cry as this hurts it too! I am getting random itchy lumps (look like nettle rash) which I have been putting up with for about a year but because my skin is like this now they are bothering me! My eyes just don't want to know at all and I can not put anything other than epaderm or hydromol ointment on it as it has the least amount of ingredients. Can't find my hydrocortisone anywhere, it doesn't help either but at least its doesn't feel horrid. I can put my head back and it pulls my bottom lip right down which is how tight it is on my neck too. Anyway skin vent over! Thank you for all your skincare advice, I'm not keen on buying from the net but I have written the products down and when my skin is better I might buy some.
I bought some coconut oil but that doesn't agree with me either. I was using it on body where my eczema has gone.
Unfortunately unless the docs have made a new cream recently I have tried them all
DH has taken the girls out and is going to buy me some olay to try when my face is better too. So I guess I shall keep doing buying and trying until something helps my face to work! I cant do thisat the mo as it will split
Thanks again for your advice and for you listening to my little vent

Awww, Spicy, I'm feeling for you - you got anyone there who can give you a great big hug :grouphug: sounds like you need it. Could you go back to your GP or even go and see a pharmacist today, the bumps sound like an allergic reaction to something. I would hun, it sounds really awful for you. Don't know if you have a good GP but perhaps they could refer you to a Dermatologist to find something that's going to work better for you long term - you've put up with this for too long. I hope it gets better for you soon xxx11th Heaven prizes Number 103

Thank you for my dodgy hugI shall get hugs when DH and dds get back
I can go to doctors, I am going anyway re the exercise. I am going to get some antihistamines for bumps, see what happens. The only thing that works is phototherapy really, thats why I don't have it on my body for the past year. The thick ointments were working so I don't know whether to just wait and see? I'm glad I could vent it on here, I don't like saying or moaning infront of my girls. I do keep thinking I have had 25 years of this you should be used to it by now! hehe.
Thanks for taking the time to respond Green, I am sure I will be more positive tomorrow! At least I haven't reached for the baccy! That is a positive for today

Hi all
Still here and still determined that the 29th is my big day :j I have started to write down exactly what I spend on the dreaded weed so that my savings once stopped will be really accurate. This weekend I smoke and drank far too much and really suffered the effects today. You guessed though I still had to go out for my fix:o
16 days to go and I will be free from the freezing cold and skanky shelter:T
I am sticking with my initial plan to go cold turkey as I have already read Alan Carr a couple of times previously so understand the logic that you are giving up nothing. I announced to my team today about the BIG DAY and I am confident they will support me and gaze disapprovingly if I was to lapse and that is a scary prospect :rotfl:
Sorry to hear about those of you suffering spicy prawn especially. I hope this starts to get better for you soon it sounds so painful
Thanks again to sue for another motivational pm - it really does boost my resolve so much :A
Congratulations on 2 years oldreekie maybe its time for new user name. Sweetsmelling youngster maybe
Sorry I am not that good at mentioning everyone on here yet but I will get the hang of it I promise.
So "Q day" minus 16 and counting and I am actually looking forward to it
Thanks again all and keep up the good work I will need you very soon :T29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
Champix Day 12
Not been around for a few days, nice to read so many success stories and so many determined people
Today for me is day 12 on Champix I do have a few things to report back but mostly it has been uneventful
I am 4 days into taking the stronger dose of 1mg in a morning and 1mg at night, so far I am still smoking pretty much as normal although the taste has definitely changed, some I enjoy as normal some I get nothing from at all. I am finding them quite harsh now in taste and also upon inhaling, before it was an almost enjoyable taste now it is quite yukky, and I have also noticed my smokers breath after a cig as well which is something I have never done before. Still no urgency to have a fag just really doing it now out of habit but am not quite ready yet to take the plunge and give up completely, I am definitely getting there though
A couple of minor side affects with the pills this week, firstly restlessness, constantly shaking my leg or foot and not very settled at all, the tiredness has also increased, I am having some of the best nights sleeps I have had in years but am constantly tired during the day, I cannot wait to get in bed at night! My appetite has also increased quite a lot, I am eating breakfast and lunch now everyday which is something I have not done for years, I have also developed a bit of a custard cream fetish, dunked into a hot cup of tea, 1 or 2 at a time would be OK would half a packet here and there  I will address this later when I have stopped the smoking completely.
Still feeling positive about the whole thing, the side affects I am experiencing are more than manageable I just need to take the plunge now, I am not going to force this from everything I have read about these pills you know when you are ready to quit so will still play it by ear over the next few days, things are most definitely moving in the right direction though
Good luck fellow quitters! Keep up the good work"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Well done needstochange - keep that frame of mind and stay focused :-)
Underpressure, sounds like things are going to plan - it seems like the Champix intensifies your tastebuds and you're relishing the real taste of food again. Custard creams are gonna be easier to wean yourself off so I'd enjoy 'em while you have this renewed love for them :-)
Hope you're feeling a little better today spicy, have the hugs worked their magic (even if the smilie one looks like a bit of a dodgy three-way)!
Keep on quitting folks xxx11th Heaven prizes Number 103

Big {{{hugs}}} to you, Spicy, you really are going through the mill. D'you reckon it's been antagonised by the stopping? If that's the case then lets hope things pick up for you once you're system's settled down.
I can't begin to imagine what it's really like for you, but no doubt you're not the only one suffering -are there any forums where people with such problems can help each other?? Might be worth having a look round.
On a much brighter note - VERY well done on Day 20 of being totally fag-free!!!! What an achievement, Spicy so much to celebrate. Good for your Dad chivying you along!
Keep up the terrific work!

Hi Needstochange, re the Alan Carr book, if I were you I think I'd re-read it ALL the day before (28th) you quit, you might find it a lot easier that way.
As you like the odd tipple, do please beware of having alcohol just before or after you stop smoking as it can so often lead folk back to the wrong path. You're doing well though and I'm so pleased to see you're looking forward to stopping!
Sue x
Enjoy the extra sleep you're getting, Underpressure, it'll do be doing you good. With regards to when to stop...listen to your body..it'll tell you when it's right for you. We're all individuals so no one can truly advise you apart from you.
Re the restlessness and custard creams, try to get as much exercise as is possible...really throw yourself into brisk walking, 2 - 3 times a day if possible/necessary (your call!) and I'm sure you'll find the restlessness much easier to handle. If it's wet ouside then get a couple of DVDs in to work out to, they're great for making you feel soooo good. All the walking and any other exercise will help in taking the weight off too.
Sue x
Push on everyone, this is just about the greatest thing you'll ever do for you. Keep focused and muster up plenty of willpower along every step of your journey.

Today is two years smoke free for me.
If I can stop anyone can as I thought I was a hopeless case.
It's good to hear all your resolve everyone - keep it up.
Sorry you're having problems Spicy - I hope you get some GP help with the skin thing - I suffer dry skin & flare ups from time to time - much better when the weather improves. Sitting next to the wood burner doesn't help me at all.
Keep on stopped everyone.0 -

Yes i heard that one (my hideously long commute means Eddie Mair keeps me company every night) Wondering how she will get a date when she hates the internet, doesn't know any one yet and is just going to rely on family to set her up :rotfl::rotfl: Im feeling
mine is a little better plannedTonight was geocaching which was a bit odd too. Sadly I am not brave enough to appear on Radio 4 but I may drop my mate Eddie a line in case he wants to read it out.
Sue dont worry about the tipple lol I am currently on my first glass of wine and head to bed about 10 so not much chance of that ruining my resolve. Long work hours and constantly tired has meant the only real issue i have now is the fags.
Congratulations choille and I look forward to joining you soon29th Feb Quit Day :j0
